LEWISBURG, Pa. –
Anna Igims broke the school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and
Sarah Corrie won the shot put to lead the Slippery Rock University women's track and field team to 28 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying marks, two NCAA provisional marks and five top 10 finishes at the three-day Bison Outdoor Classic that wrapped up Sunday night from Bucknell University.

The meet featured more than 140 different teams, including multiple NCAA Division I teams, and had numerous events with more than 100 athletes that competed. Competition began Friday with the multi-events, continued for 16 hours Saturday and wrapped up around 9 p.m. Sunday night after an 11-hour final day.

Igims had the first highlight of the meet for SRU when she took fifth overall in a loaded 3,000-meter steeplechase field Saturday evening. In just her second collegiate steeplechase race, Igims clocked an NCAA provisional time of 10:39.07, breaking the SRU record by more than six seconds. The former record of 10:45.22 was set by Laura Mucho in 2009 and stood for 14 years. Igims currently ranks 16th among all athletes in Division II with that mark. She was joined in the steeplechase by
Maddie Grillo, who also hit the PSAC standard in 37th place in 11:34.35.

Slippery Rock picked up its second highlight of the meet Sunday when
Sarah Corrie won the shot put on her final attempt of the competition with an NCAA provisional mark of 14.18 meters. She won in a field that included the Atlantic Region's No. 2 thrower from East Stroudsburg and four Division I throwers that placed in the top 10.
Olivia Heckman also hit the PSAC standard with a 12th place finish and a toss of 12.71 meters.

Skylar Sherry took 11th in the javelin with a throw of 39.43 meters,
Tiffany Jolayemi was 13th in the hammer with a throw of 47.21 meters and
Rachel Hutchinson was 20th in the hammer (45.18m) and 27th in the discus (37.90m) to give The Rock six PSAC marks in the throwing events.

SRU had three athletes reach the PSAC standard in the pole vault with
Olivia Sentle leading the way in fifth place with a clearance of 3.65 meters.
Allie Taylor was eighth and
Kendall Grossman was 11th with matching heights of 3.35 meters.

The Rock rounded out their field event qualifying marks with a pair of athletes hitting the conference standard in the triple jump.
Alice Bogia was 13th with a leap of 11.34 meters and
Aleks Brozeski was 23rd with a leap of 11.02 meters.

SRU's highest finish on the track behind Igims' fifth place showing in the steeple came in the 4x100-meter relay, where
Samantha Gilbert,
Haley Morgan,
Regan Johnson and
Thai-Lin Pierce took eighth in 47.15 seconds. Gilbert also hit the PSAC mark in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes to lead SRU to at least three PSAC marks in each event. She was 14th in the 100m in 12.18 seconds, where she was joined by
Asia Murray in 34th in 12.53 seconds and Pierce in 39th in 12.60 seconds. Gilbert was 19th in the 200m in 25.20 seconds. Murray was 48th in 25.95 seconds, followed by Pierce in 59th in 26.11 seconds and Morgan in 60th in 26.14 seconds.
Madison Olsen capped the PSAC efforts in the sprints with a 37th place showing in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.35.

The Rock closed the meet with the foursome of Bogia, Morgan, Olsen and
Rachel Veneziano placing 14th in the 4x400-meter relay in 4:03.73.
Slippery Rock recorded four PSAC marks in the hurdle events with
Chaley Younkin hitting one in both the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles. She was 16th in the 100m hurdles in 14.98 seconds and was 28th in the 400m hurdles in 1:06.60.
Chalondra Clarke took 34th in the 100m hurdles in 15.81 seconds and Veneziano led the way in the 400m hurdles in 1:04.74.

The final PSAC marks of the weekend came in the distance races.
Jordan Klick posted an 800-meter time of 2:19.23 and
Katie Plassio and
Ruthie Hughes both reached the conference standard in the 5,000-meter run with Plassio posting a time of 18:08 and Hughes running a time of 18:22.

Slippery Rock will return to action Thursday at home for the second of four home meets this spring with the John Papa Invitational. The hammer throw will begin at 10 a.m. and all other field events and track events will begin at noon.
