SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The nationally ranked Slippery Rock University football team will wrap up its spring practice schedule Friday evening with the annual Green vs. White Spring Game at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.

FREE ADMISSION
Parking and admission to the game is free for all fans. There will be no concessions provided.

GAME FORMAT
The game will feature traditional scoring and four 10-minute quarters with normal timing rules in the first half and a running clock in the second half. The clock will stop for scoring plays, timeouts, field goal attempts and changes of possession.

The "Green" team will be the No. 1 defense and the No. 2 offense, while the "White" team will be the No. 1 offense and the No. 2 defense. The No. 1 units will play against each other and the No. 2 units will do the same. Quarterbacks and specialists will be in grey uniforms and will play on both rosters.

All punts will be fair caught and opening kickoff possessions will start at the offense's 35-yard line.

2022 RECAP
Slippery Rock is coming off a 10-3 season in 2022 that included a share of a fourth straight PSAC West title and a fourth straight trip to the NCAA Playoffs. The Rock went on the road in the opening round of the playoffs and knocked off No. 3 seed Assumption to reach at least the second round of the playoffs for the third time in the last four seasons. The Rock were one of only 12 teams in the country to be ranked in every national poll of the 2022 season and finished the year ranked No. 16 in the final DII national rankings.

NEW ADDITIONS
Fans will get their first look at a number of new additions to the roster, as SRU added multiple mid-year transfers prior to the start of the spring semester. Transfers that are expected to dress and play include linebackers
Kyle Kudla (Hillsdale) and
Andrew Vince (Rutgers) and defensive linemen
Sherman Hatton (Marshall) and
Aeden Holler (Kent State).

SRU expects to see about a dozen players sit out the game, including the following players that started or saw significant time for SRU in the fall:
Chris Wells (RB),
Selvin Haynes (DB),
Jacob Odom (WR),
Daniel Tooson (DL),
Colton Rossi (OL) and
Cottrell Hatchett (DL).

MANY RETURNING STARTERS WILL PLAY
While some players will sit out the game, SRU expects many of its top returners to play in the game, including starting running back
Chris D'Or and wide receivers
Kyle Sheets and
Cohen Russell on the offensive side and defensive lineman
Munchie Johnson and defensive backs
Eddie Faulkner IV,
Ali Abdul-Hakim and
Jalen Dangerfield on the defensive side.

NEW STARTING QB
Slippery Rock will have a new starting QB when the 2023 season begins with the early advantage going to
Brayden Long. Long will take the No. 1 reps in the spring game as he preps to enter his junior season looking to take over an offense that was led by honorable mention All-American
Noah Grover in 2022. Long will be pushed by prep academy transfer
Bradly Hoffman, who spent last year in Texas at the Diamond Football Prep Academy. Hoffman joined the program in January and has four years of eligibility remaining. SRU also returns
Zaire Hart-Hawkins,
Zak Artley and
Jackson Bouslough in the QB room.

Slippery Rock will open the 2023 season with three straight home games. The Rock will host Wayne State Sept. 2 at 6 p.m., will host West Chester Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. and will host Millersville Sept. 16 at 6 p.m. A look at the 2023 schedule is available
