BOCA RATON, Fla. – The 14th ranked Lynn University women's lacrosse team used a 5-0 third period to break the game open on the way to a 15-8 victory over Slippery Rock University Sunday in a non-conference game from Bobby Campbell Stadium.

The Rock led 7-6 at halftime and looked solid in the opening half, but broke down in the mid-80-degree temps in the second half as the nationally ranked Fighting Knights pulled away and outscored SRU 9-1 over the final 30 minutes. Lynn improves to 7-1 overall on the season with the win. Slippery Rock drops its first game of the year to fall to 3-1 overall.

Sunday's game marked the first road game of the season for SRU and the first of two games it will play in Florida in a three-day stretch. The Rock will close their spring break trip with a 7 p.m. game Tuesday night at Palm Beach Atlantic University.

Slippery Rock outshot Lynn 13-10 in the opening half on the way to building a 7-6 lead at the break, but the Knights limited SRU to just one total shot in the third quarter while breaking the game open and finished the game with a 27-19 advantage in shots. Lynn also managed a 17-16 edge in ground balls, while Slippery Rock posted a 14-13 edge in draw controls.

The Rock were paced on the attack by two players with hat tricks. Freshman
Olivia Fox recorded her first career three-goal effort and
Brooke Wisniewski added three goals. The scorers were capped by one goal each from
Lauren Searles and
Ella Koslowski. Searles also chipped in one assist, while
Ida Modin handed out two assists and
Leora Owings capped the scorers with one assist.

Charleigh Rondeau was dominant in the draw circle, pulling down a game-high 11 draw controls. She now needs just four more draw controls to become the all-time SRU record holder on the draw.

SRU started
Izzie Sutton in goal and she played the first 33:17 of the game, allowing nine goals and recording two saves to pick up her first loss of the season.
Gillian O'Rourke came on for the final 26:43 and allowed six goals while making five saves. Â

Lynn was paced by Sydney Hill and Kristyn Johnson with four goals and one assist each. Callista Elica played the first half in goal, allowing seven goals and recording four saves. Ciara Moorman played the second half, allowing just one goal and recording three saves.

Slippery Rock will continue its road swing Tuesday with a 7 p.m. game at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida.
