MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Slippery Rock University women's track and field team recorded nine Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference qualifying marks, one event win and 31 top 10 finishes on the way to placing third in the team standings at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge that wrapped up Saturday from Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.

The Rock were the first non-Division I team in the overall standings, trailing only a pair of Division I programs in the final results. Coastal Carolina won the meet with 126 points, followed by the College of Charleston in second with 107 points and Slippery Rock in third with 102 points. A total of 26 teams scored points in the meet.

The lone event win for SRU over the two-days of competition came from
Tiffany Jolayemi, who took the top spot in the hammer throw with a toss of 42.97 meters.

Kendall Grossman led The Rock to five top seven finishes in the pole vault. She took second with a PSAC qualifying clearance of 3.50 meters.
Hanna Zeiler was fourth at 3.35 meters and
Grace Parrett was fifth at 3.20 meters to give SRU three PSAC qualifiers in the event.

Alice Bogia and
Aleks Brozeski both hit PSAC marks in the triple jump with Bogia taking fifth with a leap of 11.27 meters and Brozeski finishing seventh at 10.95 meters.

SRU's final field event PSAC mark came from
Olivia Heckman, who took third in the shot put with a toss of 12.13 meters.

Anna Igims and
Rachel Veneziano led the way on the track with a pair of runner-up finishes. Igims was second in the 1,500-meter run in a PSAC mark of 4:41.71 and Veneziano was second in the 400-meter hurdles in a PSAC qualifying time of 1:06.11.

The final PSAC mark on the track came from
Chaley Younkin, who finished third in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.33 seconds after clocking a time of 15.22 seconds in the prelims.

Slippery Rock also picked up points in all three relays it entered this weekend with a sixth place finish in the 4x200-meter relay (1:51.22), a fourth place showing in the 4x400-meter relay (4:12.02) and a fifth place finish in the 4x800-meter relay (10:30.54).

This weekend's meet marked the outdoor season opener for Slippery Rock, which will stay in Myrtle Beach all week during spring break before competing at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium again next weekend at the Shamrock Invitational.
