LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University quarterback
Brayden Long was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Offensive Athlete of the Week for the third time this season when the PSAC announced its weekly awards Monday.

Long, a junior from Hanover, Pennsylvania, picks up his third PSAC weekly honor after leading The Rock to a 42-14 win over Clarion Saturday that locked up a fifth straight PSAC West title.

He threw for 363 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions while also rushing for a touchdown to account for five total TD in the game. It marked the seventh game this season that Long has finished without throwing a pick.

On the season, Long now leads the PSAC in every meaningful passing category, including completion percentage (68.3%), passing yards (2,479), passing yards per game (275.4), passing touchdowns (27), QB efficiency rating (172.7) and points responsible for (192).

In addition to the 27 passing touchdowns, Long also has five rushing touchdowns on the season to account for 32 total touchdowns. He has thrown just two interceptions on 281 passing attempts, which marks the fewest interceptions by any quarterback in Division II with at least 100 passing attempts.

Long has guided a Slippery Rock offense that ranks first in the PSAC in scoring (44.9 points per game), total offense (461.0 yards per game), passing offense (283.2 yards per game), total first downs (212) and third down conversions (56.6%), while ranking second in rushing offense (177.8 yards per game).

Slippery Rock has had at least one player recognized as a PSAC Athlete of the Week after each game of the 2023 season with Long now being selected three times on offense. SRU has also seen
Kyle Sheets and
Khalid Dorsey pick up offensive awards,
Munchie Johnson and
Eddie Faulkner IV earn defensive honors and
Ben Lane and
Andrew Miller pick up special teams awards.

The Rock have already locked up the PSAC West title entering the final week of divisional play and will travel to Kutztown Nov. 11 for the PSAC Championship. Before that, SRU will head to Edinboro this Saturday for a noon kickoff with a chance to get to 10-0 for only the second time in program history.
