EDINBORO, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team picked up its sixth straight win by utilizing three different goalscorers in a 3-2 road win at Edinboro Wednesday night.

Slippery Rock improved to an 11-3-2 overall record, now 10-2-2 within the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division. The Fighting Scots fell to 4-7-4 overall, now 4-6-3 in the PSAC West.

SRU received goals from
Faith Diffenbacher,
Sydney Patrick and
Ashley Rea. Patrick also earned an assist in the game, as well as
Maddie DeLucio, who has now recorded two assists in a season for the first time in her career.Â

Patrick also led the offensive charge by placing three of her four total shots on target. Diffenbacher,
Morgan Sarver and
Olivia Yoder all threw on two shots in the victorious effort.

Leah Allman made six saves, the second most of her career, while facing 13 shots.

Slippery Rock scored just 7:42 into the matchup, when DeLucio found Patrick on a cross-field pass. Patrick was able to slot the ball right in past the net to give SRU a 1-0 lead.

Patrick turned from being the recipient of the long pass to the giver of one in the 26
th minute, finding Rea on a far-struck through ball. Rea was able to one-touch the ball past Edinboro's keeper, doubling Slippery Rock's lead to 2-0.

Edinboro refused to go into the halftime break scoreless, though, adding a goal of its own in the 31
st minute from Reece Enochs. The goal marked the first time that Edinboro has scored against Slippery Rock in five matches.

The Fighting Scots kept their momentum in full swing as they opened the second half, as Jenna Jackson scored the equalizer in the 50
th minute, bringing the score back even at 2-2.

The Rock had the majority of the opportunities in the second frame, finally connecting in the 63
rd minute when Diffenbacher lasered a loose ball into the net after a post-corner kick scramble. The goal was the second of the year for Diffenbacher and the fifth of her career.

Diffenbacher scored the game-winner in just her second career appearance for Slippery Rock, Sept. 5, 2021 against Fairmont State University, but had not registered another game-winner since Wednesday's goal at Edinboro.

The Rock looked to add to their tally after going up 3-2, taking five shots and setting up three corner kicks.

Likewise, the Fighting Scots had two opportunities in the final five minutes, but sent both shots wide of the net.

Slippery Rock concluded the match with a small advantage in corner kicks, 5-4, while both teams placed eight of their 13 shots on target.

Slippery Rock's 3-2 win at Edinboro marks its seventh straight game unbeaten, going 6-0-1 within that span. SRU's seven-game undefeated streak is tied for the ninth-largest unbeaten streak in program history.

The Rock will next play 12 p.m. Saturday when they host California (Pa.) at James Egli Field. Slippery Rock played the Vulcans to a 0-0 draw earlier this season on the road. Saturday will also feature Slippery Rock's celebration of Senior Day.
