SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to eight straight games for the first time since 2003 by defeating California (Pa.), 2-0, Saturday at James Egli Field.

With their seventh straight win, The Rock improved their record to 12-3-2 overall, now 11-2-2 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division competition. The Vulcans fell to 2-12-2 overall and 1-11-2 in PSAC West play.

Slippery Rock has now increased its winning-streak to seven straight games for the first time since 2019, when it began the season 7-1 en route to a PSAC Tournament Championship. The last time that SRU went on an unbeaten streak of eight games was 2013.

Maddie DeLucio and
Libby Zacharyasz netted the pair of goals for Slippery Rock, with DeLucio leading the offense by taking three shots. Zacharyasz joined
Skylar Munnikhuysen and
Ashley Rea in firing two shots in the winning effort.

Diffenbacher, Munnikhuysen and
Sydney Patrick each recorded one assist for The Rock.

Goalkeeper
Leah Allman made one save in her sixth career shutout, facing five shots.

Within just the first 15 minutes, Slippery Rock tallied three shots off two corner kicks. The Rock found the back of the net in the 25
th minute on a corner kick series from Patrick to the head of Zacharyasz via Munnikhuysen.

The goal marked Zacharyasz's fourth of the season and third in the last three games.

The Rock converted on yet another corner kick in the 43
rd minute. After Cal's defense tried to clear the ball of the penalty box,
Faith Diffenbacher kept the play alive with an intercepting pass to DeLucio, who connected on the goal, her fifth of the year.

At halftime, Slippery Rock held a convincing 9-2 advantage in shots as well as a 7-2 edge in corners.

Despite SRU being unable to add to its scoring tally in the second half, The Rock continued to control the pace of play, mustering six shots in the second frame.

The Vulcans ended the game playing shorthanded after suffering an 85
th minute red card.

Slippery Rock also celebrated Senior Day Saturday, recognizing Patrick, Rea, Riefenstahl and
Brandie Nauman.

The Rock will contest its final game of the regular season 3 p.m. Tuesday when they host Gannon University. The Rock fell to the Golden Knights earlier this season on the road, 4-2.
