INDIANA, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University volleyball team lost to Indiana University (Pa.) on the road in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division competition Saturday night 25-19, 25-21, 25-20.

Slippery Rock closes the weekend with an overall record of 11-10 and a PSAC West mark of 3-5. With the win, the Crimson Hawks improve to 15-7 overall and 5-3 inside the conference.

Callie Chevalier crested the double-digit kill plateau for the eighth time this season via a 10-kill, four-dig, two-block performance. Chevalier earned her 10 kills on a .296 attack percentage.

Erica Selfridge added eight kills and seven digs while
Lauren VonderHaar rounded out SRU's top offensive performers with four kills in addition to tallying a team-high four blocks.

Jaeden Yost and
Paige Weeder served one ace apiece with Yost also passing out nine assists.

Along with VonderHaar and Selfridge, The Rock's blocking efforts were also aided by
Chelsie Wheeler who came away with a pair of rejections.
Kate Lachendro finished with a match-best 16 digs to anchor SRU's defense.

Indiana used a 5-0 run midway through the opening set to open up a nine-point lead before proceeding to trade points with SRU for the remainder of the set on the way to a 25-19 win.

The Rock appeared poised to even the match at a set apiece when they overcame an early 10-5 deficit in the second game by registering 11 of the following 13 points to pull ahead of the Crimson Hawks at 16-12.

However, the remainder of the set belonged to IUP as the hosts rallied for a 25-21 win by accounting for 10 of the set's final 12 points.

The third set was another back-and-forth contest that Indiana was once again able to get the better of thanks to a final late spurt that culminated in a 4-0 run and a 25-20 match-deciding win.

The Crimson Hawks finished the match holding advantages over SRU in kills (45-31), attack percentage (.227-.148), aces (4-2), digs (56-47) and total blocks (5-4). Nyla Birch had a match-high 14 kills to lead IUP.

Slippery Rock returns home to host Clarion 7 p.m. Oct. 17 at Morrow Field House for its annual Dig for the Cure match.
