LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Slippery Rock University men's soccer goalkeeper Hossam Aly was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Defensive Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
 
Aly received the award after helping The Rock to a 1-1 record last week to open the 2022 season. Monday's honor is the first of Aly's career.
 
After suffering a loss in the opener at Walsh, the senior bounced back in a big way against the University of Findlay in Saturday's home opener when he made a career-high eight saves to back The Rock to a 2-1 victory.
 
Slippery Rock continues non-conference competition when it travels to Shippensburg University Wednesday for a 2 p.m. match.
