SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Former Slippery Rock University men's basketball standout
Tyler Frederick has signed a professional basketball contract to play for BAL Limburg in the BNXT League.

The BNXT League is a professional basketball league in Belgium and the Netherlands. The league made up of first division teams from Belgium and the Netherlands.

"We are very excited for Tyler as he embarks on the next stage of his life," said Slippery Rock head coach
Ian Grady. "Tyler was a pleasure to coach and be around. He is an excellent player and person. We wish him the best as he begins his professional basketball career."

BAL Limburg coach Koen van Gerwen was impressed with Frederick's versatility and redounding prowess.

"Tyler can play at both forward positions," van Gerwen said. "…In the games we've seen and the conversations we've had with Tyler, his energetic and enthusiastic nature stood out immediately. He was a powerful and dynamic rebounder in college and we expect him to be able to show this in the BNXT League as well."

A forward from Butler, Pennsylvania, Frederick joined Slippery Rock prior to the 2021-22 season following a standout career at Division III La Roche College. Frederick quickly adapted to the step up in competition to become one of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference's top post players.

Frederick started 23 of 28 games for The Rock last season while averaging 14.8 points, 9.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game in addition shooting 52 percent from the field overall, 39 percent from 3-point range and 72.9 percent at the foul line. Frederick, who recorded 13 double-doubles in 2021-22, ranked second in the PSAC in rebounding and eighth in field goal percentage.

For his efforts, Frederick received second team All-PSAC West recognition.

On the national stage, Frederick's 4.0 offensive rebounds per game was the sixth-highest total in all of Division II.

Thanks in no small part to Frederick's performance, Slippery Rock finished the season with a 17-12 overall record for its 12th winning season in the last 13 years while making the PSAC Tournament for the fifth straight year and the 10th time in the last 11 seasons.

Since 2009, Slippery Rock has had a total of 24 men's basketball players sign professional contracts in various international leagues.
