WVSU SERIES RECAP
Slippery Rock swept a doubleheader from West Virginia State University last week in an abbreviated series that saw a scheduled three games turned into just two due to weather. SRU took the opener from WVSU, 1-0, before completing the sweep via a 6-2 victory in game two.

DUNN NAMED PSAC WEST PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Devin Dunn was named the PSAC West Pitcher of the Week following another impressive start in SRU's 1-0 victory of West Virginia State. Dunn threw a complete game shutout against the Yellow Jackets. He gave up just four hits in the outing while not surrendering a single walk and striking out eight batters on 96 pitches. WVSU managed just one hit off of Dunn over the last five innings.

DUNN IN ELITE COMPANY
Devin Dunn has pitched consecutive complete-game shutouts to begin his Rock career. Dating back to the 2005 season (18 years), he is one of just two pitchers at The Rock to have pitched consecutive complete-game shutouts, at any point in a season, with the other being former SRU great, and current Oakland A's pitcher, Lou Trivino who threw three straight shutouts to start his 2013 season.

ROCK REMAINS PERFECT
Slippery Rock's sweep against West Virginia State improved its record to 6-0 on the season. The six straight wins to start the 2022 season represents The Rock's fourth longest winning streak to open a year in program history behind only the 1993 (7), 2005 (8) and 2013 (8) Rock teams. Additionally, Slippery Rock is the only team still undefeated across all of Division II.

Consecutive Wins to Start a Season at The Rock
8-2005, 2013
7-1993
6-1975, 2022
5-1992, 2007, 2011
4-1972, 1974

FOUR ACES ON THE MOUND
Slippery Rock's starting rotation of Devin Dunn (2-0), Luke Trueman (2-0), Ricky Mineo (1-0) and Andy McClymonds (1-0) have been nothing short of dominant to start the season.

• The quartet has combined to pitch 37.2 of a possible 44 innings this season while allowing just four runs all the while striking out 62 batters and surrendering just nine walks and a mere 3.8 hits per game.

• Dunn has thrown back-to-back complete game shutouts in his first two starts of the season to go with 19 strikeouts only two walks and a .130 opponent batting average.

• Trueman has also made two starts this season, giving up just three runs over 12.2 innings pitched for a 2.13 ERA with 15 strikeouts, four walks and a .224 opponent batting average. Most recently, he struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up two runs in SRU's 6-2 victory at West Virginia State.

• Due to weather forcing the cancelation of the final game of the West Virginia State series, neither Mineo or McClymonds pitched last week. In their first starts of the year against Davis & Elkins, Mineo struck out 17 batters as part of a combined no-hitter while McClymonds fanned 11 with no walks allowed while giving up one run in five innings pitched.

STRONG START FOR BULLPEN
When head coach Jeff Messer has had to turn to his bullpen The Rock's relievers have held up remarkably well early on this year as four pitchers have come on in place of SRU's starters to hold opponents to only one run on three hits in 5.1 innings.

• Travis Holman has pitched in two games this year. He is yet to give up a run after first combining with Mineo on a no-hitter followed by an outing against WVSU in which he did not give up a run over two innings.

• JT Wolke has The Rock's lone save this year with a scoreless inning of work in SRU's 4-2 win over Davis & Elkins on March 6.

• Drew Delaney and Christian Seelhorst have also made appearances thus far on the year with Delaney striking out three batters in 1.1 innings and Seelhorst pitching as the bridge between McClymonds and Wolke in The Rock's 4-2 victory against Davis & Elkins.

POWER SURGE FROM SPISHOCK AND HAMILTON
• The Rock's duo of catcher Connor Hamilton and first baseman Joel Spishock have feasted on pitching early on the season as the pair have combined to record 14 hits in 31 at-bats (.452) with five home runs, five doubles and 14 RBI.

• Hamilton has hit .444 through six starts with nine runs, three home runs, 10 RBI to go with team-highs in walks (six) and on-base percentage (.615) all the while slugging 1.056. Of his eight hits this year, five have gone for extra bases with a pair of doubles and his team-leading three homers.

• After hitting one home run in his first 80 at-bats in 2020 and 2021 at SRU, Spishock has already launched two home runs this season in addition to posting three doubles as part of a stat line that includes a .462 batting average, 1.154 slugging percentage and .563 on-base percentage.

LEADING THINGS OFF
• Third baseman Abraham Mow is off to a great start in his final collegiate season. The Rock's leadoff hitter has hit safely in all six games and enters the weekend batting .435 with eight runs scored, one home run and a team-high 11 RBI.

HOT START FOR CINICOLA
• It has taken just five games in 2022 for Anthony Cinicola to achieve new career-highs in runs scored (5), hits (six) and stolen bases (2) as SRU's second baseman heads into Saint Anselm batting .462 (6-for-13).

CONSISTENT PRESENCES IN THE LINEUP
• The trio of shortstop Jon Kozarian, outfielder Alex Robenolt and outfielder Joe Ehland join Abraham Mow and Connor Hamilton as Rock position players to have started every game in the field this season.

• Robenolt is hitting .300 (6-for-20) with three runs, three RBI and three walks.

• Kozarian has collected five hits in his last 16 at-bats to up his batting average to .273 early on to go with six runs, four RBI, three stolen bases, three walks and a .385 on-base percentage. Three of Kozarian's six hits in 2022 have gone for extra bases. Kozarian joins Mow as the only two Rock athletes to have reached base in all six games this season.

• After appearing in just three games as a reserve as season ago, Ehland has started every game this season in centerfield while scoring six runs and recording three stolen bases.

PLENTIFUL DEPTH
• In addition to its six position players that have started at least five games this year, Slippery Rock has the luxury of having an abundance of athletes that have proven more than capable of making contributions when called upon.

• Eddie Morris has started four games as SRU's primary designated hitter as the slugger has tallied four hits in 12 at-bats (.333) with four runs, one home run and a pair of RBI. One of the many encouraging signs in Morris' progression is the fact that he has already taken three walks in 15 plate appearances this season after doing so just once over 23 plate appearances as a freshman in 2021.

• Colin Cain, a veteran first baseman, is hitting .714 (5-for-7) with two runs and an RBI over three games played, two of which have been starts. Cain drove in The Rock's lone run on a pinch-hit RBI-double in SRU's 1-0 win against West Virginia State a week ago.

• Outfielder Evan Knaus has appeared in four games while making two starts on the way to batting .429 (3-for-7) with three runs scored, one home run and four RBI in addition to three walks for a .600 on-base percentage.

• Second baseman Koby Bubash has scored twice and driven in one run over three games played.

RECORD WATCH
Abraham Mow enters the Saint Anselm series ranked seventh in program history in career home runs (25), eighth in doubles (41), 10th in RBI (115) and 16th in runs scored (121).

Mow is two homers away from tying Matt Adams (2007-09) for sixth place on SRU's career home run ledger and a pair of doubles away from pulling into a three-way tie for sixth place alongside Matt Kuzsko (2002-05) and current assistant coach Billy Messer (2007-10) who both hit 43 doubles over their careers at SRU.

• The Hawks come to Slippery Rock having allowed 7.9 runs per game while scoring 6.4 per contest. Saint Anselm's pitching staff has combined for a 7.51 team ERA and a .304 opponent batting average while the Hawks are batting .248 as a team.
