FINDLAY, Ohio – Slippery Rock University senior defensive end D.J. Adediwura continued to add to his list of postseason accolades when he was named the Super Region One Defensive Player of the Year when the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-Region team was announced Thursday.

Adediwura also picked up first team All-Region honors and joined SRU offensive tackle Yuriy Hryckowian on the All-Region team as Hryckowian was named to second team honors.

The D2CCA All-Region team is nominated for and voted on by the athletic communicators in each of the four NCAA Super Regions. Super Region One includes 47 schools that represent the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, the Mountain East Conference, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, the Northeast 10 Conference and two independent institutions.

Adediwura, who is also one of the nine national finalists for the Gene Upshaw Division II Lineman of the Year Award, will now advance to the D2CCA All-America ballot as one of the three defensive linemen from Super Region One to be named to the first team.

The senior from Columbia, Maryland put together one of the best comeback seasons in all of college football in 2022 after missing the entire 2021 season following knee surgery. Returning to the field for the first time in nearly three years, Adediwura established himself as the top defensive lineman in Super Region One by leading all players at his position during the regular season with 10.5 sacks and 16.5 tackles for loss.

He ended the year ranked third on the team in total tackles, behind The Rock's two starting linebackers, with 62 total stops. Adediwura racked up 10.5 sacks, 18.5 tackles for loss and was credited with an additional 15 QB hurries over the course of the season. He finished his four-year career with 54.0 tackles for loss, which ranked fifth among all active Division II players in the nation.

Adediwura is a three-time All-Conference honoree after earning two All-MEC honors while playing at Fairmont State and also picking up a first team All-PSAC award this fall. He is now a two-time All-Region selection after being recognized as a second team honoree in 2019 while at Fairmont State.

Hryckowian, a junior left tackle from Chalfont, Pennsylvania, picks up his first career All-Region honor after starting every game of the 2022 season and helping The Rock to put up 30.8 points and 400.4 total yards of offense per game. He helped SRU QB Noah Grover to rank in the top 20 in nearly every passing category in Division II during the regular season and was a key factor in the SRU offense averaging 5.9 yards per play on 885 total plays during the season.

Slippery Rock won a share of a fourth straight PSAC West title and reached the NCAA Playoffs for the fourth straight season before finishing with a 10-3 overall record for its seventh 10-win season in program history. The Rock own the third-longest active playoff streak in Division II and wrapped up their 13th straight winning season this fall.
