SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University volleyball team closed out its 2022 season on a high-note Saturday with a 3-0 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division victory over Seton Hill University.

SRU registered its third straight win, and fourth victory over its last five contests overall, by way of 25-10, 25-14 and 26-24 set victories.

Slippery Rock ends the season with an overall record of 14-16 and a PSAC West showing of 8-8. The Rock's 14 overall wins represent the second most victories for the program since 2012 while the 8-8 league record marks the first time SRU has finished the season with a .500 or better winning percentage in league competition since 2006.

Additionally, SRU finished fifth in the PSAC West standings after being picked last in the annual PSAC preseason coaches poll. The Rock's seven wins at Morrow Field House this season are tied for the most at SRU since 1997.

Playing in her final collegiate match,
Stephanie O'Donnell recorded six kills and six blocks (four solo / two assisted) for The Rock. Fellow senior
Abigail Nigon came away with four blocks (three solo / one assisted) in addition to chipping in four kills. Nigon leaves The Rock ranked 18th in Slippery Rock program history with 185 career blocks.

Erica Selfridge and
Callie Chevalier paced The Rock's attack with eight and seven kills, respectively, while
Alayna Chizmar and
Abigail Koeller also contributed four kills apiece.

Jaeden Yost guided the offense with 15 assists all the while matching a personal-best with four aces.
Paige Weeder also provided SRU with an exceptional serving performance in the form of a three-ace match. Weeder closes the season with 10 aces in her last three matches.

Libero
Kate Lachendro had 15 digs, giving her 586 for the year – the seventh most in program single-season history.

For the match, Slippery Rock held advantages over Seton Hill in kills (34-27), attack percentage (.204- -.010), aces (8-3) and blocks (13-10).

After taking the opening two sets with relative ease, Slippery Rock found itself in a battle with the Griffins in the third set. Trailing 12-9, SRU recorded four straight points to get back in the set before the two teams traded points on the way to an eventual 22-22 tie.

Things seemed dire for SRU late as Seton Hill went on to earn the following two points, but The Rock rallied out of a timeout to take the final four points of the set for a 26-24 match-deciding win. O'Donnell sealed the win for Slippery Rock as she was responsible for the final two points by way of a kill and block.

Prior to Saturday's match The Rock's 2022 senior class of Chizmar, Koeller, Nigon, O'Donnell and
Maria Lucas were recognized for their contributions to the program over their careers in a Senior Day celebration.

While SRU will be tasked with replacing its talented five-member senior class, The Rock are currently slated to return 14 athletes from this year's roster in 2023 including eight that played in at least 15 matches matches this season.
