SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University volleyball team recorded a convincing three-set victory against Salem University in non-conference competition Tuesday at Morrow Field House.

Tuesday's match was never in doubt as SRU parlayed sizable early runs in all three sets into a 25-15, 25-10, 25-11 home victory.

With the win, Slippery Rock's record improves to 12-16 on the season overall while Salem drops to 0-30 following the loss.

The Rock controlled every facet of the contest, finishing with advantages over Salem in kills (40-15), attack percentage (.341-.032), aces (13-2), digs (33-24) and total blocks (5-3). SRU's 13 aces were a team season-high while its .341 attack percentage was its second-highest mark of the year.

The victory was a complete team effort as 16 athletes saw the court for Slippery Rock.
Erica Selfridge led the way with a 13-kill, 13-assist double-double that included six digs, one ace and one block.

Abigail Koeller and
Callie Chevalier added seven and five kills, respectively, with
Chelsie Wheeler (4),
Abigail Nigon (3),
Mary Berger (2),
Paige Weeder (2),
Lauren VonderHaar (2),
Jiley Berger (1) and
Alayna Chizmar (1) all chipping in kills as well.

Slippery Rock's excellent serving night was spearheaded by Weeder and
Maria Lucas, who totaled four aces apiece. Koeller and
Jaeden Yost posted two-ace outings as well with Yost also guiding the offense courtesy of 22 assists.

Defensively, VonderHaar and
Stephanie O'Donnell registered two blocks each. The quartet of Wheeler, Chevalier, Selfridge and
Mary Berger contributed one block apiece.
Kate Lachendro, who is ranked amongst the nation's digs leader, rounded out SRU's top performers on the night with a team-best nine digs. Â

Tuesday's win was the 660th in the career of head coach
Laurie Lokash. Across all three divisions of the NCAA, just 80 of the 540,065 coaches that have ever compiled a record at an NCAA institution have won 660 or more matches in their careers.

SRU is now 5-2 when playing at Morrow Field House in 2022 and 5-1 overall in matches contested on a Tuesday.

Slippery Rock closes the regular season with back-to-back Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division home matches at Morrow Field House 7 p.m. Friday against California and 2 p.m. Saturday versus Seton Hill University on Senior Day.
