BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University women's tennis team closed the fall portion of its 2022-23 schedule with a solid performance at the BU Invitational on the campus of Bloomsburg University.

Over the two-day event, which ran from Oct. 15-16, six members of The Rock's roster took part in individual singles and doubles matches against athletes from some of the top teams throughout the state of Pennsylvania.

SRU entered three doubles teams for the Invitational in

Georgie Lancaster.

Gonzalez Sanchez and Slovak earned a 2-1 record. Following a 6-3 loss against the Division I duo of Lafayette's Alyssa Perdomo and Carmen Merkel, The Rock's pairing rebounded with a 7-6 (5) win over Lorena Pintar and Alyssa Kush of Frostburg State followed by a convincing 6-1 showing versus Bloomsburg's Jennifer McDonald and Nicole Ikovic.

Lancaster and Heed also finished the weekend with a 2-1 record by way of a 6-1 win against Clarion's Dava Lion and Alexis Strouse as well as a 6-3 triumph over Sydney Tmondong and Jessie Thepsouvan of Saint Francis. The lone loss of the weekend for Lancaster and Heed was a narrow 6-4 setback against St. Bonaventure's Kashish Bote and Kelly Barnes.

Fresh off their appearance in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference doubles championship match, del Val del Toro and Martin Lopez defeated Ilkovic and McDonald, 6-2, before dropping contests against two St. Bonaventure's pairings of Anastasia Gubanova / Isabella Venter (6-2) and Alexandra Jansson / Amelia Haley (7-6 (10)).

In the singles portion of the invitational, Gonzalez Sanchez, del Val del Toro and Martin Lopez all finished with 2-1 records while Heed and Lancaster each picked up one win.

Gonzalez Sanchez was a 4-2, 5-4 (3) winner over McDonald and a 4-1, 4-0 victor over Quackenbush with her lone loss coming against Jansson (6-3, 6-4).

Del Val Del Toro meanwhile bested Quackenbush (6-3, 6-2) and Perdomo (5-3, 4-1) with a 4-2, 4-1 loss to Haley sandwiched between the wins.

Martin Lopez's wins came by way of respective 6-1, 6-2 and 4-1, 4-0 showings against Pintar and Melanie Sparhawk (Lafayette) in addition to a 4-0, 4-0 loss to Venter.

Heed began her singles slate with a hard-fought 4-6, 6-2, 10-5 victory over Barnes before losing two close outings against Kush (4-2, 5-4 (3)) and Julia Ramos (Frostburg State / 4-2, 1-4, 10-8).

Lancaster pulled out a 4-2, 5-4 (10) win over Eleanor Campbell of Lafayette while losing to Bote (3-6, 6-4, 10-8) and Halle Denardo (Lafayette) 4-0, 4-2.

Rounding out The Rock's singles entries was Slovak who lost two close matches against Sparhawk (5-3, 2-4, 10-5) and Merkel (5-3, 5-4 (5)) as well as a 6-2, 6-2 defeat against Gubanova. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
