SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Rachel Edge netted her fourth goal of the season while Kayla Swope scored her third en route to a Slippery Rock University women's soccer team 2-1 comeback win over University of Pitt-Johnstown at James Egli Field.

With the win, SRU improves to 3-0-1 overall and 2-0-0 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division. Pitt-Johnstown falls to 1-3-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the conference.

SRU was led on offense by Edge who finished the afternoon with one goal and one assist, Swope who tallied a goal of her own and Julia Mascaro who collected an assist.

Emma Yoder finished with five saves facing six shots and only allowing one goal.

UPJ found itself up early in the eighth minute with a goal from Morgan Kost. The Rock found themselves in a game of catch up as they entered a defensive battle with the Mountain Cats for the remained for the first half.

A slew of Slippery Rock players would tally the six shots on goal that came in the first half including Mascaro, Kylee Kosek, Jordyn Minda and Sydney Patrick, none of which were able to find the game tying goal.

SRU was able to break through on offense beginning the second half after a pair of corners would lead to Edge placing a perfect pass to Swope who was then able to pop the ball over the head of goalkeeper Sachi Negri to equal the score 1-1 fifteen minutes into the period.

The Mountain Cats tried for six more shot attempts in the remaining 20 minutes of play but would not find any such luck.

With less than three minutes remaining in the half, Mascaro found the foot of Edge who was able to net the what would be game winning goal for The Rock.

Slippery Rock settled in defensively following the score and didn't allow a shot the rest of the way, securing the 2-1 home victory.

SRU lead Pitt-Johnstown in total shots (14-10), shots on goal (11-6) and corner kicks(6-5).

Slippery Rock will next travel to Seton-Hill for its next PSAC West matchup 3 p.m. Wednesday.
