SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's track and field team sits third in the overall standings after the first day of competition at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships wrapped up Thursday from Shippensburg University.

The Rock picked up 11 points in the hammer throw thanks to a third place finish from
Jena Reinheimer and a fourth place showing from
Rachel Hutchinson.

Just two event finals were contested Thursday with the hammer and the 10,000-meter run. The only other events that took place Thursday were the opening four events of the heptathlon.

Reinheimer earned All-PSAC honors with her third place finish after unleashing a career best effort of 51.99 meters to place third in the hammer and score six points for the team. Hutchinson followed in fourth with a toss of 48.35 meters to score five points.

Steph Keelon finished one spot out of a scoring position in the 10,000m, placing ninth in 41:57.71.
Marie Scarpa was 13th in 42:29.56.

Katie Bonczyk leads The Rock's four entries in the heptathlon after the first day of competition and sits in ninth place overall with 2,202 points.
Alison Lamoreaux is 12th with 2,082 points,
Danni MacBeth is 13th with 2,078 points and
Kaitlyn Lander is 14th with 1,910 points.

The final three events of the heptathlon will take place Friday on the second day of the three-day championship meet.

Millersville leads the team standings with 18 points after the first day. Lock Haven sits second with 13 points, followed by SRU and Seton Hill in a tie for third with 11 points.

Competition resumes Friday morning at 10:30 a.m.
