NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's track and field team won three events and took runner-up honors in four events with a select group of women that competed at the Presidents' Athletic Conference Last Chance Meet Wednesday and Thursday at Grove City and Westminster Colleges.
Â
The Rock sent just nine women to compete in the meet for one final chance to improve on their national marks or to get onto the national list for the first time this season.
Â
SRU had multiple athletes reach at least the NCAA provisional mark in their respective events at the meet, but no SRU entries improved on their season-bests.
Â
Trinity Clark won the javelin with her second-best mark of the year at 47.39 meters, just shy of her season-best of 48.78 meters that currently ranks fourth in the nation. Clark was also second in the discus with a toss of 39.15 meters.
Danielle Collier finished second in the javelin with a throw of 46.91 meters, well off her SRU record of 50.72 meters that currently ranks second in the nation.
Skylar Sherry was third with a throw of 42.70 meters, also just shy of her season-best of 43.35 meters that ranks 28th nationally.
Â
Reagan Hess won the long jump with a leap of 5.82 meters, coming up just shy of her season-best of 5.95 meters that currently ranks 20th nationally.
Â
Jena Reinheimer took top honors in the discus with a throw of 43.19 meters, coming up short of her season-best of 46.79 meters that currently sits 28th nationally.
Â
Cecily Greggs just missed out on an NCAA mark after clearing 1.63 meters to place second in the high jump. She had no misses in the competition until the NCAA provisional height of 1.68 meters.
Â
Kendall Grossman led a 2-3-4 finish in the pole vault for SRU with a clearance of 3.38 meters to place second.
Heidi Bednarz and
Olivia Sentle followed with marks of 3.23 meters.
Â
Slippery Rock will now wait for the NCAA to announce the accepted entries for the National Championships May 27-29 at Grand Valley State. Collier and Clark will be on their way to the national meet based on their positions on the national list, while Hess will be near the bubble as the NCAA has announced fields between 13-17 entries per event this year.
Â
The official accepted entries list for nationals will be released by the NCAA next Tuesday, May 18, in the evening.
