LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse team saw its two-game winning streak snapped with a 19-12 loss on the road at Lock Haven University Saturday in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division game from Charlotte Smith Field.

The two teams traded momentum for most of the opening 25 minutes. Lock Haven jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but Slippery Rock responded with three straight goals to tie it at 3-3 just 11 minutes into the game. The Rock would eventually take a 7-6 lead with 8:04 to play in the first half before the Bald Eagles began the decisive run that put the game out of reach.

Lock Haven closed the final six minutes of the first half on a 5-0 run and opened the second half with two goals in the first three minutes to cap a 7-0 push that made it 13-7 with 27:45 to play. Slippery Rock strung together three goals midway through the period to cut the deficit to 15-11 with 11:33 to play, but would get no closer.

Lock Haven improved to 2-3 overall and 2-3 in PSAC West games with the win, while Slippery Rock slipped to 3-4 overall and 2-4 in league games.

The possession battle provided the biggest swing for The Rock during the game as Lock Haven doubled up SRU in the draw circle with a 22-11 advantage in draw controls. SRU also failed on 14 clear attempts to finish 11-of-25 on the day, while LHU was slightly better at 11-of-19. The Bald Eagles fired 42 shots in the game to finish with a 42-30 edge in shots, while Slippery Rock managed a 22-21 edge in ground balls.

Molly Buettner paced the SRU attack with five goals.
Charleigh Rondeau added a hat trick to go along with four draw controls and
Emily Benham chipped in two goals and two assists to cap the multiple-point scorers.

Camryn Whipple and
Brooke Wisniewski both scored one goal and
Katie Dlugosz and
Jamie DiCarlo each handed out one assist to round out the scorers.

Gillian O'Rourke made 14 saves in goal to mark her second straight game with at least 14 saves.

Lock Haven got seven goals from Braxtin Reddinger and four goals and one assist from Caitlin Morrow. Lauren Girardi made 12 saves and allowed 11 goals to earn the win.

Slippery Rock will shift its focus to the second round of PSAC West play and will kick things off Tuesday when Indiana (Pa.) visits for a 4 p.m. game at The Rock.
