SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Danielle Collier broke a Slippery Rock University record that had stood since 2004 and won the javelin with an NCAA automatic qualifying throw to lead The Rock women's track and field team at the Bill Lennox Invitational that wrapped up Friday at SRU.

Collier's winning effort of 50.72 meters broke Karyn McCready's former SRU record of 49.98 meters that had stood since 2004. Her throw is currently the second-best mark in the nation this year and guarantees her a spot at the NCAA Division II National Championships in May.

Collier led a 1-2-3 sweep of the podium in the javelin Friday with Trinity Clark and Skylar Sherry both recording NCAA provisional marks to place second and third. Clark improved her season-best significantly and landed a throw of 48.78 meters, which vaults her all the way up to No. 4 on the national list, giving The Rock two of the top four javelin throwers in the nation currently. Sherry improved her season-best to 43.22 meters to move up to 25th on the national list.

The Rock women's track and field team combined to win five events, record four NCAA qualifying marks and post 24 top five finishes over the two-day competition that also included the Mike Kowal Multi Meet that took place Thursday and Friday. In total, more than 500 athletes from 17 institutions competed at SRU over the course of two days.

The fourth NCAA mark of the meet came from Kendall Grossman, who cleared 3.68 meters to place second in the pole vault.

The Rock's throwers shined in multiple events Friday with Jena Reinheimer winning the discus with a throw of 40.67 meters. She was also second in the hammer at 49.71 meters. Rachel Hutchinson was second in the discus at 36.47 meters and was third in the hammer at 49.05 meters. Tiffany Jolayemi was fifth in the discus with a throw of 35.34 meters and Sarah Corrie was fourth in the shot put with a toss of 11.78 meters.

Reagan Hess took top honors in the long jump with a leap of 5.60 meters. Samantha Gibert followed in fourth with a mark of 5.09 meters.

Hess also anchored the winning 4x100-meter relay with Gilbert, Lorna Speigle and Thai-Lin Pierce joining her to post a time of 48.89 seconds. The Rock's 4x400-meter relay of Courtney Nunley, Megan Miller, Allyson Stitzer and Speigle placed second in 4:09.61.

The final event win belonged to Katie Plassio, who was the first female finisher in the mixed 10,000-meter run in 42:15.97. Steph Keelon (42:27.18) was second and Marie Scarpa (42:50.10) was third.

Anna Igims led the distance runners with a second place finish in the 1,500-meter run in 5:05.51 and Julianna Stevens was third in the 5,000-meter run in 19:50.79.

Morgan Donatelli was third in the 400-meter dash in 1:00.50, with Nunley following in fourth in 1:01.39 to round out the top five efforts Friday.
