MANSFIELD Pa. - The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team battled back from a 10-point deficit to earn a 65-56 victory at Mansfield University, extending its winning-streak to five games.

With the win, Slippery Rock improves to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference while the Mountaineers move to 1-6 overall and 0-1 in league competition.

Jamiyah Johnson tallied her seventh consecutive double-double in a 19-point, 13 rebound performance that saw her go 8-of-11 from the floor while also blocking one shot. The double-double was her seventh of the season. Â

Accompanying Johnson in double-digit points was
Kennedy Middleton (13),
Isabellah Middleton (12) and
Anyah Curd (11). Curd, who also grabbed five rebounds, led SRU from long range with three made 3-pointers shooting 50 percent (3-of-6) from long range.

The Middleton sisters accounted for 11 of The Rock's 14 assists with Kennedy tallying six and Isabellah adding five.

On the defensive end of the floor,
Isabellah Middleton and
Daeja Quick tallied three steals each to help force Mansfield into 17 turnovers. Quick was also The Rock's second-leading rebounder with six in addition to adding three assists and one block. Nine of the Mountaineers turnovers came in the second half of play while Slippery Rock committed just three turnovers.

SRU trailed Mansfield for almost the entire first half of play as the Mountaineers led by 10 points with three minutes to play before The Rock scored six consecutive points to cut Mansfield's lead to just six points heading into the halftime.Â

Slippery Rock maintained its momentum coming out of the halftime break as SRU tied the game on three occasions in the third quarter before Quick hit a layup at the conclusion of the period to send The Rock into the final 10 minutes leading 47-45.

SRU would never trail again. The Rock extended their lead to as many as 11 (56-45) with less than four minutes to play in the fourth quarter on the way to their fourth victory this season by a margin of at least nine points. Johnson posted 14 of her game-high 19 points in the final two quarters.

As a team, Slippery Rock shot 49 percent (24-of-49) from the floor, 33.3 percent (5-of-15) from long range and 52.2 percent (12-of-23) from the charity stripe.

The Rock held advantages in points off turnovers (21-18), points in the paint (36-24) and fast break points (13-2) over Mansfield.

The Mountaineers ended the game shooting 35 percent (21-of-60) from the floor, 30.8 percent (8-of-26) from 3-point range and 66.7 percent (6-of-9) from the foul line. Sydney Reed finished the night with a team-high 19 points.

Slippery Rock finishes the back end of its two-game road trip with another PSAC crossover contest at Bloomsburg University 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
