BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team suffered a 58-44 loss on the road at Bloomsburg University to end SRU's five-game winning streak Saturday night.

The loss moves The Rock's record to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference while Bloomsburg improves to 4-3 overall this season and 2-0 in the conference. The Rocks five-game winning streak was their longest in over 20 years with the last being during the 1999-00 season team.

Slippery Rock was led by
Jamiyah Johnson who recorded a double-double of 15 points, and 15 rebounds. Rounding out the leading scorers for The Rock were
Kennedy Middleton (9),
Anyah Curd (8) and
Daeja Quick (7).

Curd and
Kennedy Middleton both nearly joined Johnson with double-doubles of their own as Curd collected nine rebounds while Middleton pulled down season-high matching eight rebounds as well.

Additional point scorers for SRU were
Bella Long with three and
Isabellah Middleton who scored two and had a game-high of four steals.

The Rock and Huskies started the game in a close contest with Bloomsburg's largest lead being eight points in the first quarter. Slippery Rock was not able to cut into the lead in the second quarter as its deficit grew to as many as 11 points before a last-second 3-pointer by Curd sent SRU into the half trailing 28-20.

Through the second half, Slippery Rock would trim Bloomsburg's lead to single digits eight different times, including its smallest deficit of six points on two separate occasions early in the third quarter, but was unable to complete its comeback bid as the Huskies closed out the fourth quarter on a 6-0 run to secure the win.

As a team, SRU shot a season-low 25.4 percent (18-of-71) from the floor, 22.2 percent (4-of-18) from long range and 44.4 percent (4-of-9) from the foul line. Despite the loss, Slippery Rock held advantages in points in the paint (26-14) and second-chance points (9-8) while also making 10 steals and forcing the Huskies into 18 turnovers while committing 16 miscues of its own.

Bloomsburg ended the night shooting 32.7 percent (18-of-55) from the floor, 25 percent (5-of-20) from 3-point range and 65.4 percent (17-of-26) from the charity stripe.
The Rock will now break for finals week before returning to their home court in another pair of PSAC crossover contests against Kutztown University (Dec. 18) and West Chester University (Dec. 19) at Morrow Field House.
