Â
QUICK HITS
• Saturday's game is the first of four contests for The Rock this year against teams from the PSAC East. All crossover games count in the divisional standings. SRU also plays crossover games against Bloomsburg, Mansfield and Millersville later in the season.
Â
• Following today's game, Slippery Rock will hit the road for three games over an eight-day stretch against Atlantic Region foe Charleston (Nov. 27) and back-to-back PSAC crossover contests against Mansfield (Dec. 3) and Bloomsburg (Dec. 4).
Â
ROCK HITS THE CENTURY MARK
The Rock took care of business Wednesday with a 101-52 victory over Penn State University Fayette in a tune-up game in preparation for Saturday's game. 12 of SRU's 13 players that dressed for the game scored in the win. The 101-point showing marked the third time under head coach
Ian Grady that Slippery Rock hit the century mark. The win was also the fifth victory of at least 30 points during Grady's tenure.
Â
ROCK LEADS NATION IN OFFENSIVE REBOUNDING
Through three games no team in Division II has cleaned up the offensive glass as well as Slippery Rock has as SRU enters the weekend leading the nation with 20 offensive rebounds per game.
Â
Lashon Lindsey leads The Rock's offensive rebounding efforts with 11 so far in 2021-22.
Jonathan McFall and
Tyler Frederick have 10 apiece as well while
Bobby Clifford rounds out SRU's leaders with seven offensive rebounds of his own.
Â
THE ROCK IN CROSSOVER CONTESTS
Dating back to the 2011-12 season when the PSAC began counting crossover games as division contests, Slippery Rock has compiled a record of 35-22 (.614) overall against Eastern Division teams including a quality 20-9 (.690) mark against PSAC East schools at Morrow Field House.
Â
NO PLACE LIKE HOME
Few teams in the Atlantic Region dominate at home like SRU does at Morrow Field House. Since 2008-09, Slippery Rock is an outstanding 134-40 (.770) at home. Luckily for SRU, 16 of The Rock's 28 games this season will be played in the friendly confines of Morrow Field House.
Â
SRU AMONG THE PSAC'S BEST
SRU comes into the ESU game leading the PSAC in rebounding margin (+16), blocks (19) and offensive rebounding (20.0 per game) while ranking second in overall rebounding (51.7 rpg), third in scoring (92.3 ppg), third in made 3-pointers (27) and fourth in turnover margin (+1.67).
Â
MAKING THE MOST OF SECOND CHANCES
Slippery Rock has done a great job translating its 20 offensive rebounds per game into points. The Rock has recorded at least 18 second chance points in each of its first three games of the season. After totaling 18 second chance points against Notre Dame in its season-opener, SRU has totaled 19 such points against Alderson Broaddus and 28 vs. PSU Fayette.
Â
WELL-BALANCED ATTACK
A staple of The Rock's team so far this season has been their offensive flow that has seen seven different players score at least 10 points in a game at least once this season with four athletes averaging double figure ppg on the season in
Frankie Hughes (17.3),
Tyler Frederick (16.5),
Jonathan McFall (15.7) and
Zaire Rogers (18.0) with
Amante Britt (9.7) and
Bobby Clifford (8.7) on the cusp of the 10 ppg plateau as well.
Â
HUGHES 9th IN REGION IN CAREER 3's
Frankie Hughes connected on four 3-pointers against Penn State Fayette to push his team-best, and second-ranking PSAC, mark to 10 on the season. Over his career, Hughes has made 140 3-pointers which ranks ninth among active Atlantic Region players in career 3-pointers made.

BRITT CLIMBING CAREER CHARTS
Point guard
Amante Britt's strong play to open the season has resulted in the veteran guard climbing several of The Rock's career lists. Following an 11-point, four-assist, four-steal showing against PSU Fayette, Britt will enter the East Stroudsburg game ranked 22nd in program history for career steals (73), 23rd in assists (157) and 23rd in starts (61).
Â
For the season, Britt has averaged 9.7 points, 6.3 assists and 2.7 steals per game. He ranks third in the PSAC in assists and fourth in steals.
Â
LINDSEY WITH BIG NIGHT ON THE GLASS
Lashon Lindsey made his first start of the season against Penn State Fayette and responded by grabbing 15 rebounds, scoring four points, passing out three assists and making one steal in just 21 minutes. Lindsey, who averages 9.0 rebounds per game, is the sixth Rock athlete over the last six seasons to grab 15 or more rebounds in a game joining Micah Till (8), Christal Malalu (3), Will Robinson Jr. (2), Brandon Simmons (1) and Vinny Lasley
Â
BLOCK PARTY
In addition to ranking second on the team in scoring,
Jonathan McFall has also made his presence known on the defensive end of the floor as well with seven blocks over The Rock's first three games. McFall has blocked at least two shots in each game this year and ranks second in the PSAC in blocks per game (2.3).
Â
Others helping The Rock to their PSAC-best 19 blocks this season include
Bobby Clifford (3),
Lashon Lindsey (3) and
Nik Cazacu (2).
Â
BIG DEBUT FOR Z
One of the many highlights from the PSU Fayette was the play of reserve forward
Zaire Rogers, who made the most of his first official collegiate action by going 8-for-9 from the field overall and 2-for-3 from the foul line to finish the game with 18 points all the while pulling down nine rebounds and blocking one shot. Four of Rogers' eight made field goals were dunks.
Â
Eric Taylor (3 points, 3 rebounds),
Colin McQuiston (2 points 3 assists) and
Brandon Caruso (2 rebounds) also made their season debuts against Fayette.
Â
ROUNDING OUT THE ROTATION
A trio of freshmen have proven vital to The Rock's efforts this season as
Bobby Clifford,
Jomo Goings and
Dylan Ahearn have all earned spots in SRU's rotation.
Â
Clifford, a redshirt freshman, has started all three games with per game averages of 8.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.0 blocks per game over 27.3 minutes a night. Goings has been SRU's first guard off the bench. Over 17.0 mpg, Goings has produced 5.3 ppg and 4.0 rpg. Ahearn plays 15.5 minutes per game and has made three 3-pointers.
Â
GRADY MOVING UP CHARTS
With The Rock's win against Penn State Fayette, head coach
Ian Grady is now tied for fifth along with Chris Fite (Shippensburg / 2013-16) among all 18 active PSAC coaches for victories in their first three full seasons at their current schools with 36. He needs three more wins to tie Pat Cleary (Edinboro / 2013-16) for fourth place.
Â
West Chester's Damien Blair currently ranks first among active PSAC coaches for wins in their first three years at their current schools at 48.
Â
EAST STROUDSBURG PRIMER
Overall Record: 0-2
PSAC East Standings: 7th
Home Record: 0-0
Away Record: 0-1
Neutral Record: 0-1
Streak: L2
Head Coach: Jeff Wilson | 19th year at ESU (339-182)
Â
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
• ESU has been led early on by Carlos Pepin, who averages 17.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Four other players average at least 11 ppg for ESU as well.
Â
• Mike Millsip is East Stroudsburg's leading rebounder at 7.5 rpg to go with 11.0 ppg. The Warriors enter Morrow Field House ranked 10th in the PSAC in scoring (81.5), but just 16th in points allowed per game (90.0).
Â
• While winless on the year currently, East Stroudsburg should by no means be taken lightly as the Warriors' two losses are against West Liberty, a national power, and Wheeling, a program that is always competitive in the region. Additionally, East Stroudsburg has won 20 or more games in a season in six of the last eight years.Â
