ERIE, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University volleyball team lost a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division road match at Gannon University Friday.

Gannon (25-5, 12-3 PSAC West) earned the home win over The Rock (5-24, 1-14 PSAC West) with set victories of 25-13, 25-18, 25-14.

Six different Rock athletes recorded multiple kills with
Alayna Chizmar leading the way at five to go with one ace, six digs and three blocks.

Chelsie Wheeler,
Erica Selfridge and
Lauren Crytzer had three kills apiece with Selfridge also tallying nine digs and an ace while
Stephanie O'Donnell chipped in two kills and three blocks.
Tiara Teague rounded out the charge with two kills as well.

Kate Lachendro made a team-high 12 digs. Lachendro also served an ace, her team-leading 30th of the year. Laruen Weber was close behind Lachendro with nine of her own. The duo of
Taylor Fellers and
Peytan Gullickson combined for 17 assists to setup SRU's offensive attack.

Leading by just two points at 8-6, Gannon used an 8-1 run midway through the opening set to pull out to a nine-point lead it would never relinquish in the eventual 25-13 win. GU went on to take 12 of the first 16 points of the second set en route to the 25-18 win which led to the match-deciding 25-14 win in the third set.

For the match, SRU edged the Golden Knights in blocks (4-3) while Gannon held advantages over The Rock in attack percentage (.273-.048) and aces (5-3). Ashley McClung posted a match-best 14 kills to lead Gannon.

Slippery Rock closes out its 2021 season on the road 1 p.m. Saturday at Edinboro University.
