SLIPPERY ROCK Pa. - The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team defeated California University (Pa.), 5-1, in its last home match of the regular season to clinch a spot in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament Wednesday at James Egli Field.

With the win Slippery Rock improves to 11-3-2 on the season overall and 10-3-1 in the PSAC West while California falls to 3-11-0 on the year overall and 3-10-0 in the division.

The Rock's offensive onslaught was led by
Jordyn Minda who tallied five points on two goals and an assist as well as
Rachel Edge,
Sydney Patrick and
Ashley Rea netting one goal apiece while
Maddie DeLucio,
Georgia Nagucki and
Megan Sikora each dished out an assist.

Edge and Patrick have now scored goals in two consecutive matches while Minda and Sikora have assisted on goals in back-to-back games.
Wednesday's contest is the second time in Minda's career in which she has scored five points in a single match; the first came Oct. 12, 2019 in a 6-0 Rock win over Clarion University.

Emma Yoder made one save while only allowing one goal in 90 minutes.

The Rock got off to a quick start by scoring four goals in the opening 40 minutes of play with Minda netting back-to-back goals at 16: 58 and 27:41 while Rea tacked on The Rock's third goal in the 32nd minute and Patrick in the 40th minute to give SRU a healthy 4-0 lead heading into halftime.

Coming out of the break, Edge tallied what would be The Rock's final goal of the game just five minutes into the second half. California found its way onto the board at 61:39 when Abbey McComb snuck a ball past Yoder. As they did all game, The Rock controlled possession for the near entirety of the remainder of the contest following the Vulcans' score en route to the four-goal win.

SRU's defense held the Vulcans to just four shots Wednesday. The Rock has now only allowed two goals in the second half through 16 matches this year.

For the game, Slippery Rock held the advantages over the Vulcans in total shots (30-4), shots on goal (18-3) and corner kicks (11-2).

The Rock hits the road for their final two regular season matches of the season beginning 1 p.m. Saturday at Edinboro University.
