LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - A total of 260 Slippery Rock University student-athletes were recognized as Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Scholar-Athletes for maintaining above a 3.25 cumulative GPA for the 2019-20 academic year, the league office announced Monday.

166 females and 94 males represented The Rock on the list of 2019-20 PSAC Scholar-Athletes. The Rock ranked sixth out of the 18 PSAC member institutions in total number of PSAC Scholar-Athletes and was third among the members of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.

More than 83 percent of SRU's female student-athletes finished the academic year with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher, while 44 percent of male student-athletes finished the year with at least a 3.25 cumulative GPA. In total, 62.7 percent of all Slippery Rock student-athletes concluded the year with a cumulative GPA above 3.25.

Slippery Rock's 10 women's teams combined for a 3.564 cumulative GPA following the academic year, while The Rock's seven men's teams combined to post a 3.161 cumulative GPA in 2019-20. As a whole, Slippery Rock student-athletes recorded a 3.378 cumulative GPA for the 2019-20 academic year.

Of the 260 student-athletes honored Monday, 33 maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA. Additionally, every Slippery Rock athletic program maintained or improved its number of PSAC Scholar-Athletes from a year ago.

Across the conference, the PSAC set a record with a total of 3,762 student-athletes from the 18 league members earning the honor, which is 50 percent of the student-athlete population in the league. The total topped the previous record of 3,061 that was set last year and marks the 12th straight year that more than 30 percent of the total student-athlete population of the league has earned the honor.
