SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University volleyball team lost in three sets, 25-17, 25-18, 25-7, to East Stroudsburg University Saturday at Morrow Field House.

Slippery Rock exits the weekend with a 6-7 overall record and a 1-1 mark in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference competition. East Stroudsburg improves to 11-3 overall and 2-0 in league matches with the win.

SRU played tight with the Warriors in the opening set, but ESU went onto outscore Slippery Rock 50-25 over the final two sets to secure the road win.

The Warriors held advantages over The Rock in attack percentage (.240--.009), aces (8-0), blocks (11-5) and kills (35-23).

Kaley Fucci and
Abigail Koeller paced The Rock's efforts Saturday. Koeller recorded eight kills and 20 digs while Fucci added eight kills, nine digs and two blocks.
Sophie Varndell came off the bench to add four kills and a block while
Abigail Nigon and
Tiara Teague rounded out SRU's attack with two kills and one kill, respectively.

Nigon, just a freshman, also tallied four blocks to increase her team-high rejection total to 40.
Zoe Rivet tallied a team-high 20 assists, six digs and one block as well from the setter position.

Stephanie Jacobsen, who spent portions of Saturday's match as The Rock's libero, finished with a double-digit dig total for the fourth time this season with 15.
Cacey Cook, who was playing in her second match of the season, chipped in nine digs off the bench.

Slippery Rock will look for its third win in its last four matches with a victory 7 p.m. Oct. 4 at Lock Haven University.
