SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University football team hosted its annual Green vs. White Spring Game Friday night at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium with "The Pride" team coached by 1983 graduate Rick Allen topping "The Rock" team coached by 1980 graduate Doug Labor by a 27-7 score.

"We came out of tonight with no injuries and that's a good way to wrap up our spring," said head coach
Shawn Lutz. "We sat a lot of the projected starters tonight so this wasn't much of a true indicator of what we'll look like in September, but it gave us a chance to evaluate some of the depth on the team and we saw some good things."

The game format pitted the projected No. 1 offense and the No. 2 defense on "The Rock" team against the No. 1 defense and the No. 2 offense on "The Pride" team.

The Pride offense found the most success on the day, racking up 320 yards with 201 rushing yards and 119 passing yards. The Rock offense managed 130 total yards with 128 passing yards and just two net rushing yards.

Newcomer
Rushawn Grange had the most productive night out of both offenses, rushing for 114 yards and one touchdown on just nine carries for an average of 12.7 yards per carry.
Braden Fochtman rushed for 78 yards and one touchdown on seven carries for 11.1 yards per touch as that duo propelled The Pride team.

Isaac Clarke led The Pride in passing with 87 yards and two touchdowns, which included a 66-yard pass to
Kwis Montinard.
John Eakin caught two passes for 38 yards from the tight end position.

The Pride defense was paced by
Tim Vernick with five total tackles and one tackle for loss.
Khadir Roberts recorded four solo tackles, two pass breakups and delivered the two biggest hits of the game.
Gavin Vargesko added four tackles and one sack.
Donte Davenport,
Brad Zaffram and
Jahnaaman Boone all had one sack as well.

The Rock offense was led by quarterback
Andrew Koester, who returned after missing all but six quarters of the fall with an injury. He completed 12-of-19 passes for 128 yards with no interceptions.

Henry Litwin was the top target for The Rock offense with five catches for 78 yards.
Max Maciejewski caught four passes for 38 yards.

The Rock running game was paced by
Cinque Sweeting with 12 yards on five carries. Sweeting also caught two passes for nine yards.

The Rock defense was led by
Keivonn Paschl with six total tackles and one tackle for loss.
Danny Welker added five tackles and two tackles for loss and
Cedric Askerneese also had two tackles for loss.
Edgar Parrilla II broke up two passes.

Friday night's game marked the end of the spring practice season for Slippery Rock, which will now turn its focus to offseason training before reporting for preseason camp in the fall. The Rock are likely to generate a preseason national ranking after finishing the 2018 season ranked seventh in Division II.
