SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. –
ShyAnne Toomer reached the 100-career point milestone on the way to leading the Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse team to a 14-12 win over Lake Erie College in a non-conference game Tuesday evening from Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

The Rock improve to 6-8 overall and 6-1 in home games with the win, which also keeps alive the chances at finishing the season with at least a .500 record for the fifth consecutive year and the eighth time in the last nine years. Lake Erie dropped to 7-7 with the loss and 0-6 all-time against Slippery Rock.

Toomer scored the opening goal of the game just four minutes into the first half to account for her 100th career point, making her the 14th player in program history to reach the century mark for scoring. She would add four more points the rest of the way in an impressive overall performance to finish with three goals, two assists, eight caused turnovers and six ground balls.

The Rock scored the first three goals of the game and quickly built a 6-1 lead in the first half. Lake Erie would cut the deficit to 7-4 early in the second half, but SRU responded by pushing the advantage out to 11-5 with 18:02 to play. The Storm made a late push, scoring seven of the game's final 10 goals, but could get no closer than the 14-12 final margin.

Slippery Rock finished the game with advantages of 31-25 in total shots and 31-26 in ground balls, while Lake Erie posted a 17-11 edge in draw controls. The Rock were 14-of-22 in clear attempts and held the Storm to 17-of-28 on the clear.

SRU put together one of its best offensive outings of the year with eight assists on 14 goals and got points from eight different players.

Sami Gentzler finished second on the team in scoring with four points on one goal and three assists and
Danie Porath added a hat trick after moving from her defensive position to a midfield role late in the first half.
Molly Buettner added two goals and one assist,
Katie Dlugosz scored two goals and
Emily Benham dished out two assists to cap the multiple point scorers.

Brooke Miller scored her first collegiate goal and
Hayley Pimentel and
Jordan Grey each scored one goal to cap the point scorers.

Rachel Shaw caused three turnovers to lead the defense and
Haley Barrett earned the win in goal after recording eight saves and allowing nine goals in just over 49 minutes in goal.
Grace Phillips played the final 10:56, allowing three goals and recording three saves.

Lake Erie was led by Anna Spin with a game-high eight points on six goals and two assists. Harmony Moore recorded 11 saves in goal.

Tuesday marked the final non-conference game of the season for Slippery Rock and the first in a stretch of three games over five days this week to end the season. SRU will travel to Gannon University Wednesday for a 4 p.m. game and will close the year Saturday at home against Shippensburg at 1 p.m.
