WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Slippery Rock University men's basketball team led wire-to-wire in a 78-67 non-conference win on the road at the University of the District of Columbia Sunday afternoon.

The Rock improve to 4-3 overall with the victory, while the Firebirds drop to 4-4 overall.

Slippery Rock scored the first five points of the game and never trailed. The Rock built up a 13-point lead midway through the opening period before taking a 39-27 advantage into halftime.

UDC cut the deficit to eight points early in the second half before SRU responded and pushed the advantage out a game-high 18 points. The Rock led by double figures for the final 17:18 and were never threatened in the closing minutes.

Jared Armstrong scored 12 points in the second half to finish with a game-high 17 points to go along with five assists.
Will Robinson Jr. recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds to cap the double figure scorers for SRU.

Slippery Rock got scoring contributions from 10 different players that finished with at least two points.
Lashon Lindsey scored nine points and grabbed seven rebounds and
Donovan Walker scored nine points and grabbed six boards.
Deontae Robertson added eight points,
Revelinio Tholel scored seven points and grabbed six rebounds and
Amante Britt and
Andre Seadey each scored four points.

Slippery Rock shot 46.7 percent from the field (28-of-60), 35.3 percent from 3-point (6-of-17) and 72.7 percent at the free throw line (16-of-22). The Rock outrebounded UDC by a 48-27 margin and turned 17 offensive rebounds into 17 second-chance points.

UDC was led by Jahmir Marable Williams, who matched Armstrong for game-high honors with 17 points. Zachary Olukanni and Juanye Colon added 14 points and Aaren Smith scored 12 points.

The Firebirds shot 39.3 percent from the field (24-of-61), 13.3 percent from 3-point (2-of-15) and 77.3 percent from the free throw line (17-of-22).

Slippery Rock will return to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action with a crossover game on the road at Shepherd University next Saturday, Dec. 7, at 3 p.m.
