Rock edges Lock Haven, 75-70

Will Robinson Jr. scored five points in the final 53 seconds to lift The Rock to a 75-70 win over Lock Haven Sunday in a PSAC crossover game.

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's basketball team went on a 5-0 run in the final 53 seconds to come away with a 75-70 win over Lock Haven University Sunday afternoon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference crossover game from Morrow Field House.
 
The Rock evened their records at 3-3 overall and 1-1 in PSAC games with the win, while Lock Haven dropped to 3-2 overall and 0-2 in league action.
 
The teams traded momentum for most of the afternoon in a trend that continued until the final minute. Slippery Rock led 68-60 with 3:42 to play, but Lock Haven put together a 10-2 run to tie the game at 70-70 with 53 seconds left.
 
The Rock regained a 73-70 edge with just 13 seconds left after Will Robinson Jr. made a contested layup in the middle of the paint and knocked down the free throw after being fouled on the play.
 
The Bald Eagles fired a long-range 3-pointer that missed the iron with eight seconds left and Robinson sealed the win with a pair of free throws with seven seconds left to account for the final points.
 
Robinson was the driving force of the second half for Slippery Rock, posting a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds in the final 20 minutes alone. He scored seven of The Rock's last nine points and finished his afternoon with game-highs of 24 points and 15 rebounds for this third double-double this season.
 
Slippery Rock also got 16 points from Jared Armstrong and 12 points from Jason Fowlkes to put three players in double figures. Revelinio Tholel added seven points and 11 rebounds to help The Rock outrebound Lock Haven by a 49-36 margin.
 
All eight players that saw the floor for SRU tallied at least two points. Amante Britt scored six points and handed out four assists. Deontae Robertson added five points and three assists, Lashon Lindsey scored three points and Donovan Walker added two points.
 
Slippery Rock finished the game shooting 39.1 percent from the field (27-of-69), 35.3 percent from 3-point (6-of-17) and 71.4 percent from the free throw line (16-of-21).
 
Lock Haven shot 42.6 percent from the field (26-of-61), 28.6 percent from 3-point (6-of-21) and 66.7 percent from the free throw line (12-of-18).
 
Matt Cerruti led the Bald Eagles with 20 points and seven rebounds. Jesse McPherson added 12 points and five boards and Nasir Campbell had a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds.
 
Slippery Rock will take a short break for the Thanksgiving holiday this week before returning to non-conference action next Sunday, Dec. 1, with a road game at the University of D.C.
