SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University volleyball team lost a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference match to Pitt-Johnstown 25-20, 25-17, 25-23 Saturday afternoon at Morrow Field House.

The Rock (7-18, 2-11 PSAC) held leads in all three sets Saturday, but were unable to hold off the Mountain Cats (11-10, 3-12) in the home loss.

SRU jumped out to a 9-5 lead in the opener before a decisive 12-2 UPJ run paved the way for a 25-20 Mountain Cat win. Pitt-Johnstown ran out to a 16-7 lead in the second set en route to the 25-17 win.

Slippery Rock trailed 21-14 in the third set before fighting back via a 9-3 run to pull to within one point of Pitt-Johnstown at 24-23. However, Noelle Carota ended The Rock's comeback bid by tallying one of her match-best 12 kills to secure the UPJ victory.

Zoe Rivet supplied Slippery Rock with a double-double of 17 assists and 11 digs all the while serving her team-leading 41st ace of the season. With three aces this weekend, Rivet is now tied with Nikki St. Antoine (1993-96) for eighth place in program history with 140 career aces.

Six Rock players collected at least three kills Saturday.
Abigail Koeller netted a team-high eight kills followed by
Erinn Kahoe, who recorded seven kills, two blocks and one ace.

Abigail Nigon posted six kills and a team-high three blocks.
Kaley Fucci picked up five kills, 11 digs, two blocks and one ace as well.

Logan Whitaker and
Shannon Ream rounded out Slippery Rock's top attackers after compiling four and three kills, respectively, with Ream adding one block and Whitaker coming away with 10 assists and two blocks.

Stephanie Jacobsen came off the bench to add one ace while
Lauren Weber made 11 digs to round out The Rock's top performers.

For the match, UPJ held advantages over Slippery Rock in kills (45-33), attack percentage (.224-.155) and aces (7-4). Both teams had six total blocks apiece.

Slippery Rock begins a three-match PSAC road swing 7 p.m. Nov. 8 at Seton Hill University.
