SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University volleyball team lost a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Northwest Division match to Edinboro University in four sets Friday at Morrow Field House.
 
Slippery Rock played the Fighting Scots tight in all four sets Friday starting with a 25-21 victory in the opener before Edinboro rallied to take three straight sets 25-20, 25-22, 25-17 to clinch the victory and guarantee itself a PSAC Tournament berth.
 
Abigail Nigon continued her stellar freshman campaign with a five-block, nine-kill outing against Edinboro that included a season-high .444 attack percentage. Nigon, who has recorded five or more blocks in a match six times this year, will enter SRU's season finale on Saturday with 84 blocks this year; the third highest total by a freshman in program history.
 
Abigail Koeller and Kaley Fucci both recorded double-doubles for The Rock. Koeller totaled 14 kills and 18 digs in addition to a team-high two aces to go with a steady .205 attack percentage. Fucci tallied 12 kills, 17 digs and one ace of her own. Both players had one block apiece as well.
 
Erinn Kahoe supplemented Slippery Rock's leading attackers with nine kills. Kahoe also registered three blocks to move past Andi Whitican (2000-03) and into 13th place in Rock history for blocks in a career with 215.
 
Zoe Rivet turned in a 43-assist, one-kill, one-block effort in what was her eighth match of the year with at least 40 assists.
 
Libero Gabby Huck matched Koeller for the team lead in digs with 18, Lauren Weber served one ace while Lauren Crytzer had two blocks to round out The Rock's top performers Friday.
 
Cierah Jackson led the way for Edinboro with 20 kills and three aces. The Fighting Scots held advantages over The Rock in kills (63-48), attack percentage (.255-.190) and aces (5-4) while Slippery Rock bested Edinboro in blocks (8-4).
 
Slippery Rock will conclude its 2019 season 1 p.m. Saturday at Morrow Field House against Mercyhurst University on Senior Day.
