CLARION, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University volleyball team lost in three sets on the road at Clarion University Tuesday in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Northwest Division match.

SRU (7-21, 2-14 PSAC) hung with the Golden Eagles (18-10, 10-6 PSAC) for the majority of the first set, but Clarion ended the opener by taking eight of the final nine points on the way to a 25-19 victory.

CU jumped out to a 17-7 lead in the second set en route to an eventual 25-15 win followed by a third set in which Clarion ended the contest via an 11-4 spurt to claim the match-ending 25-18 win. Â

Kaley Fucci and
Erinn Kahoe combined for 16 of The Rock's 30 kills Tuesday. Fucci recorded a team-best 9 kills on a solid .280 attack percentage to go with seven digs and two blocks. Kahoe added seven kills of her own via a .263 attack percentage.

The rookie duo of
Abigail Koeller and
Abigail Nigon rounded out Slippery Rock's attack as Koeller totaled five kills in addition to eight digs while Nigon tallied four kills to go with four blocks (two solo / two assisted).

Nigon is now up to 79 total blocks this year with two matches remaining in her freshman season. She needs two blocks to move into third place in program history for blocks by a freshman.

Zoe Rivet guided The Rock with 24 assists all the while contributing one kill, one ace, one block and six digs. Rivet's ace against Clarion moved her into a tie for seventh place in Slippery Rock history with Laurie Flynn (1991-94) for aces in a career with 142.

Stephanie Jacobsen and
Gabby Huck served one ace apiece as well with Huck also making a team-best nine digs.

For the match, Slippery Rock posted a 5-2 edge over the Golden Eagles in blocks. Clarion held advantages over The Rock in attack percentage (.355-.173), aces (6-3), digs (47-44), kills (47-30). Julia Holden led CU with 19 kills.

Slippery Rock will close out the 2019 season when it hosts a pair of matches at Morrow Field House 7 p.m. Friday against Edinboro University and 1 p.m. Saturday against Mercyhurst University.
