Rock ties PSAC opponent Gannon, 2-2

The Slippery Rock women’s soccer team tied Gannon Sunday afternoon, 2-2, in a PSAC contest in Erie, Pennsylvania. Skye Kramer and Jordyn Minda recorded one goal apiece in the draw.

ERIE, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team tied Gannon University Sunday afternoon, 2-2, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference contest in Erie, Pennsylvania. Skye Kramer and Jordyn Minda recorded one goal apiece in the draw.
 
The Golden Knights scored their first two goals in the first half, but SRU would rally to score one before the break and tie the game in the 79th minute. However, neither team could take advantage in overtime and the game ended the draw, 2-2.
 
At 2:28, it was Gannon's Emily Cekella who scored off a pass from Taylor Lewis.
 
In the 31st minute, Lewis was fed a pass from Kayla Bevacqua to give GU a 2-0 lead.
 
The Rock got on the board five minutes later following a foul in the box. Kramer then finished the play with a penalty kick goal. It was her second score of the season.
 
With time ticking away, Minda tied the contest following an assist from Brooke Testa. Testa dished Minda a pass down the left side on a cross and she finished it in the net to tie the game up.
 
In the first overtime period, Kramer nearly gave SRU the win when she fired a shot in the 94th minute, but Gannon goalkeeper Hannah Pufpaff made the save.
 
Kramer nearly won the game again in the second overtime period, but her shot went high. Rachel Edge also got in on the action firing a shot, but it went wide. Eventually, SRU and GU would finish the game level, 2-2.
 
Rock goalkeeper Kylie Downs made eight saves in the contest.
 
Slippery Rock's record is now 6-1-2 overall and 4-1-2 in PSAC play while Gannon is 4-3-1 for the year and 3-3-1 in league games.

GOAL: GU 1, ROCK 0; 2:28: Cekella finished off crossing pass from Lewis
GOAL: GU 2, ROCK 0; 30:29: Lewis scored off a header on a free kick from Bevacqua
GOAL: ROCK 1, GU 2; 35:49: Kramer scored on a penalty kick
GOAL: ROCK 2, GU 2; 78:46: Testa fed Minda a long cross into the box that she finished
 
GAME NOTES
  • Slippery Rock has now tied in its second consecutive game.
  • Minda leads the team in total points with eight on four goals.  
  • Kramer is second on the roster in total points with seven on two goals and three assists.
  • Testa and Kramer are both tied in assists with three apiece.
  • It is the first time in 23 meetings with Gannon that the two teams have tied.
