SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University volleyball team lost to East Stroudsburg University in four sets (25-23, 27-25, 17-25, 25-20) Saturday at Morrow Field House.

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference loss drops The Rock's record to 4-8 overall and 1-3 in league matches. East Stroudsburg exits the weekend with a 14-2 overall record and a 4-0 mark in league play.

All four sets on Saturday were close contests that could have gone to either team. Slippery Rock held a 22-20 lead in the first set and a 24-21 lead in the second, but couldn't quite put the Warriors away in either set as ESU rallied for the two quick wins on the way to an eventual 3-1 victory.

Sophomore Erinn Kahoe paced The Rock's attack with 12 kills, a season-high seven blocks and four aces. Kahoe's block total is tied for the fifth most in a four set match in Rock history. Fellow senior middle hitter Shayla Ray added 10 kills and a pair of blocks while junior Kaley Fucci rounded out SRU's offensive leaders with nine kills to go with three blocks.

Sophomore Jalyn Willard made a match-best 24 digs and junior Zoe Rivet tallied her ninth 30+ assist match in 2018 with 35 in addition to 13 digs and two aces for the double-double effort.

For the match, East Stroudsburg held advantages over The Rock in attack percentage (.118 - .113), aces (7-6), blocks (13-10) and kills (52-41). Sarah Smith recorded 15 kills to lead the Warriors.

With its first homestand of the season now over, Slippery Rock will return to the road next week for league contests against Seton Hill University 7 p.m. Sept. 28 and California University (Pa.) 1 p.m. Sept. 29.
