SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team shut out Edinboro University Tuesday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play, 1-0.
Kaitlyn Barackman scored in the 56th minute off a pass from
Skye Kramer and goalkeeper
Kylie Downs made five saves in the contest.

The Rock and the Fighting Scots combined for seven shots in the first period and both defenses were rarely tested, as the teams were scoreless heading into the break.

In the second half, SRU threatened in the 50th minute when
Megan Sikora fired a header that Edinboro goalkeeper Anna Voelker saved.

At 56:37, Kramer chipped a ball ahead to Kramer in the right side of the box and she put a shot past Voelker to give Slippery Rock the lead, 1-0

In the time remaining, The Rock had to defend a barrage of shots taken by Boro. Jenna Derbis and Jessica Frank nearly tied the game in the 71st minute on back-to-back shots, but Downs was there to make the saves.

Derbis almost tied the game again at 74:22, but her shot went wide, and at 77:33, Danielle Chatten fired a shot, but it also went wide.

Boro's final chance to score was at 84:03 when Chatten ripped a shot at Downs, but she made the save, and The Rock held on for the 1-0 victory.

Despite taking the loss, Edinboro led in shots, 13-5, and in corner kicks, 5-1.

For The Rock, it was their 20th win in the all-time series against the Fighting Scots.

GOAL: ROCK 1, BORO 0; 56:37: Kramer chipped a ball into the box and Barackman put it in the net.

GAME NOTES
- Slippery Rock now has five 1-0 victories this season and six shutout wins, which is tops in the PSAC.
- Barackman registered her second game-winning goal of the season and the sixth of her career. She is also tied for the team-lead in goals in 2018 with three.
- Kramer's assist was her third of the season, which is second on the roster.
- Downs now has four shutouts this season and carries a 0.40 goals against average.
- SRU's 20th win over Edinboro marks another PSAC opponent that it has at least 20 wins over. The list includes Lock Haven, California (Pa.), Clarion and now Boro.
