SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team shut out Edinboro University Tuesday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play, 1-0. Kaitlyn Barackman scored in the 56th minute off a pass from Skye Kramer and goalkeeper Kylie Downs made five saves in the contest.

The Rock and the Fighting Scots combined for seven shots in the first period and both defenses were rarely tested, as the teams were scoreless heading into the break.

In the second half, SRU threatened in the 50th minute when Megan Sikora fired a header that Edinboro goalkeeper Anna Voelker saved.

At 56:37, Kramer chipped a ball ahead to Kramer in the right side of the box and she put a shot past Voelker to give Slippery Rock the lead, 1-0

In the time remaining, The Rock had to defend a barrage of shots taken by Boro. Jenna Derbis and Jessica Frank nearly tied the game in the 71st minute on back-to-back shots, but Downs was there to make the saves.

Derbis almost tied the game again at 74:22, but her shot went wide, and at 77:33, Danielle Chatten fired a shot, but it also went wide.

Boro's final chance to score was at 84:03 when Chatten ripped a shot at Downs, but she made the save, and The Rock held on for the 1-0 victory.

Despite taking the loss, Edinboro led in shots, 13-5, and in corner kicks, 5-1.

For The Rock, it was their 20th win in the all-time series against the Fighting Scots.
