KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team defeated Kutztown University on the road in overtime, 1-0. Freshman,
Jordyn Minda, tallied the golden goal at 94:29 off an assist from
Brooke Testa.
The Golden Bears threatened The Rock defense throughout the contest posting four shots on goal in the first half, four in the second half and one in overtime, but
Kylie Downs played tremendous in goal, tallying nine saves registering the shutout.
SRU's offense managed eight shots on goal in the contest as KU's goalie Jenna Bracken made seven saves. Testa tallied three shots on goal, while
Rachel Edge,
Shannon McIntyre,
Skye Kramer,
Kaitlyn Barackman and Minda each recorded one shot on goal.
It wasn't until overtime that SRU was able to breakthrough as Minda received a pass from Testa to put it by Bracken for the win.
SRU improves to 2-0-0 on the season and 1-0-0 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play, while Kutztown falls to 1-1-0 overall and 0-1-0 in league games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GOAL: ROCK 1, KU 0; 94:29m: Testa flicked the ball onto the path of Minda who slotted it into the goal.
GAME NOTES
- With the win, SRU improves to 2-0-0 to begin the season. It's the first time the team has started a season with two wins since 2012.
- Rock improves to 15-10-1 all-time when playing its first road game of the season.
- Slippery Rock posted another shutout victory and has not surrendered a goal this season. Since Jessica Griggs took over the program in 2015, SRU has recorded 24 shutouts.
- Today's overtime win marks the first time that SRU has won in extra time since Nov. 3, 2015 against Shippensburg in the first round of the PSAC Tournament. The Rock also won that game, 1-0.
- Minda's game winner was her first goal as a member of the Slippery Rock women's soccer program.
- Kutztown out shot The Rock 19-13 overall and 9-8 in shots on goal despite SRU getting the win.
