MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's soccer team upset No. 14 Millersville University on the road in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play.
Brooke Testa recorded a goal in the first period and
Skye Kramer tallied the game winner in the 60th minute to aid Rock in the victory.

In the 33rd minute, it was Testa who put a number on the scoreboard following a foul in the box. She then lined up for a penalty kick opportunity and beat the keeper to give SRU a 1-0 advantage.

Just three minutes later, Millersville got on the board when Calista Paolino fed Talie Grynkewicz a pass and she fired it into the net for the equalizer.

The Marauders nearly took the lead and the momentum into the break at 42:01 when Delaney Meadows got free for a shot, but Rock goalkeeper
Kylie Downs made the stop. Both teams remained tied, 1-1, heading into the break.

Out of halftime, Millersville and Slippery Rock fired a combined nine shots, but were unable to score until the 10th opportunity between the two teams.
Jordyn Minda sent a shot on target that was stopped by MU's Erin Heimbach, but Kramer played the ricochet into the net to give SRU a 2-1 lead at 59:49.

Both teams continued to battle it out for the rest of the period. At 71:57, Grynkewicz got free again and set a shot loose, but Downs was there to make the stop. Just minutes later, Kay Liebl shot one that hit the post, and fired another one short ly after that Downs was there to save.

With time winding down in the 89th minute, Grynkewicz nearly leveled the score with a shot, but Downs was once again there to make the stop. Slippery Rock eventually held on for the upset victory, 2-1.

The Marauders held the advantage in total shots, 26-12, and in shots on goal, 12-5, but Slippery Rock's defense remained sound throughout the contest holding them to one score.

Downs made a season-high 11 saves in net for SRU and collected her sixth goalie win of the season.

Slippery Rock improves to 8-4-2 overall and 6-4-2 in PSAC play while Millersville falls to 10-3-0 overall and 9-3-0 in league games.

GAME NOTES
- Slippery Rock knocked off its second ranked opponent this season. To open its season, The Rock upset No. 22 West Virginia Wesleyan.
- SRU now has a .563 winning percentage on the road this season earning its fourth road victory.
- With all three of the team's top point scorers recording points today (Testa a goal, Kramer a goal, Minda an assist), the three are now tied for the team-lead in total points with 11. Minda has five goals and one assist, Kramer has four goals and three assists and Testa has three goals and five assists.
- Downs managed 11 saves in the contest, which was a season-high. It's the first time she has recorded double-digit saves in a game since she tallied 10 against Gannon on Sept. 24 last season.
- Friday's win marks the fourth time this season that The Rock have been outshot by an opponent and still earned a victory.
