EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team lost a 3-1 game at East Stroudsburg University Saturday afternoon.
Tyler McCarthy scored his second goal of the season.

After no goals were registered in the first half, ESU managed to score two to begin the second period. SRU answered back with one score with 11 minutes left to play, but the Warriors tallied another goal to make it 3-1 and seal the victory.

The loss drops Slippery Rock to 1-5-3 and 0-2-2 in the PSAC, while ESU improves to 5-2-1 overall and 3-2-0 in league play.

Neither team was able to gain ground in the first half. Slippery Rock nearly scored at 9:45 when
George Oakley fired a shot that was saved by East Stroudsburg goalkeeper Will Boerema.

The Warriors nearly took a 1-0 lead at 35:52 when Keelby Espinola headed a ball high, but both teams remained level at 0-0 into the break.

At 50:23, ESU put one on the board when James McMahon received a pass from Eddy Enowbi and fired it into the net for the score. ESU took the lead, 1-0.

Eight minutes later, Irvin Zuzic made it a 2-0 Warriors lead when he put one past Slippery Rock goalkeeper
Jonathan Sharp for the score.

McCarthy put Slippery Rock on the board at 79:18 with his second goal of the season. It's the second consecutive game that McCarthy has put one in the net.

Unfortunately, The Rock could not tie the game and ESU made it a 3-1 contest when Michael Tolley put one past Sharp for the score. The Warriors held on for the win.

Slippery Rock is back in action 4 p.m. Wednesday at Pitt-Johnstown for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference game.
