ERIE, Pa.- The Slippery Rock University softball team dropped a pair against Mercyhurst in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division action Friday afternoon from the MU Softball Field.
The Lakers secured a 7-6 victory in game one with a comeback walk-off win in 10 innings, before the hosts secured the sweep with a 12-3 victory in six innings in game two.
With the losses, Slippery Rock drops to 16-17 overall and 5-7 in conference action. Mercyhurst improved to 11-13 overall and 4-8 in PSAC play.
Game One: Mercyhurst 7, Slippery Rock 6 (10 Innings)In the opener, The Rock led 6-0 and had the game all but locked up heading into the final stretch of the game, but surrendered four runs in the sixth inning and two runs in the seventh to let Mercyhurst back in. The Lakers recorded an unearned run on an error in the bottom of the 10th to end the game at 7-6.

Megan Maloney each recorded three hits apiece for Slippery Rock in game one.
Caitlin Baxter and
Stacey Herzog each had two RBI.
Paige Flore (3-5) took the loss for The Rock after pitching three complete innings and allowing three runs.
Brooke Dawson got the start and pitched six innings and allowed four runs.
Game Two: Mercyhurst 12, Slippery Rock 3 (6 Innings)Slippery Rock was unable to bounce back from the extra-inning loss in game one as they fell 12-3 to the Lakers in six innings in the nightcap.
The Rock scored its first run of the game in the first inning when Baxter hit an RBI single to right field to score
Katie Kaiser, who reached base on her ninth double of the season.
The Lakers began to pull away from The Rock as they scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning and two more in the third.
Kaiser knocked a two-RBI home run out over left field in the fourth inning to give The Rock some life, but it was not enough as the Lakers scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth and three runs apiece in the fifth and sixth innings to end the game.
In addition to Kaiser's double and home run, Maloney and
Megan Brown each had two hits apiece.
Carly DeRose (7-5) was tagged with the loss after allowing six runs in four innings of work. Flore saw action in 1.2 innings and also allowed six runs.
The Rock returns to action Saturday afternoon with a PSAC West doubleheader at Seton Hill. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 1 p.m.
