DAVENPORT, Fla. – The Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse team used runs of five goals, eight goals and five goals to pull away from Young Harris College (Georgia) for an 18-10 win Tuesday in non-conference action at Northeast Regional Park in Davenport, Florida.

The Rock improve to 2-0 on the season with wins over a pair of teams from Georgia in the last three days in Florida. Young Harris drops to 4-3 overall with the loss.

The Mountain Lions opened the game with three goals in the first nine minutes before Slippery Rock rallied with its first long run of the game.
Erin Wilcox,
Chynna Chan and
Kaytlin Callaghan all scored within four minutes of each other to tie the game and
Tia Torchia put The Rock out front with a pair of goals to make it 5-3 with 13:56 to play in the first half.

Young Harris reeled off the next two goals to tie the game at 5-5 before Slippery Rock exploded for eight straight goals, with four bookending each half. Wilcox and
Jordan Chan each scored one goal and
Ally Culhane tallied two goals in the final three minutes of the first half to send it to the break with SRU leading 9-5.

Caitlynn Palladino and
Danni Wilson scored early in the second half and Callaghan added two more goals to make it 13-5 with 19:18 to play, but Young Harris would respond.

The Mountain Lions strung together their own five-goal rally and got some impressive goalkeeping to cut the deficit to 13-10 with 6:08 to play.

The Rock slammed the door from there with a pair of Wilcox goals to provide some cushion before
Anna-Marie Warrington added two goals in the final 1:12 and Callaghan netted her fourth of the game.

Wilcox finished with a team-high six points on four goals and two assists to lead the offense. She also caused five turnovers, picked up five ground balls and won four draw controls. Callaghan finished with four goals and one assist as the senior duo have now score eight goals in just two games to open the year. Callaghan is now sitting on 99 career goals, while Wilcox has 96. They are set to become the eighth and ninth players in program history to reach 100 goals.

Culhane finished with two goals and one assist and Torchia and Warrington each finished with two goals. J. Chan and Wilson each scored one goal and handed out one assist and C. Chan capped the scoring with one goal.

Jordan Wagner made five saves to earn her second win of the season in goal.

Young Harris was led by Jaclyn Kernohan with three goals and two assists. Nicole Kernohan added two goals and Sarah Bialecki handed out three assists.

Julia Darroch took the loss in goal after recording 13 saves and allowing 18 goals.

Slippery Rock finished the game with advantages of 37-19 in total shots, 28-16 in ground balls and 21-9 in draw controls. The Rock were 9-of-14 on clear attempts, while the Mountain Lions were 10-of-22.

Slippery Rock will wrap up its three-game road trip to Florida Friday night with a 6 p.m. game at No. 6 Rollins in Winter Haven.
