Rock falls at No.6 Rollins

Slippery Rock dropped a 17-6 decision on the road at undefeated sixth ranked Rollins College Friday night.

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse team suffered its first loss of the season Friday evening with a 17-6 setback at No. 6 Rollins College.
 
The Rock drop to 2-1 overall with the loss, while Rollins improves to 6-0 with the victory. The Tars entered the game ranked sixth in the latest Division II national poll.
 
Rollins finished the game with advantages of 43-18 in shots, 21-15 in ground ball and 13-11 in draw controls. The Tars were 18-of-20 on clear attempts and held Slippery Rock to 13-of-21 on the clear.
 
Caitlynn Palladino tallied two goals to lead the offense for SRU. Ally Culhane, Chynna Chan, Erin Wilcox and Jasey Sanders each added one goal.
 
Jordan Wagner made 15 saves on 32 shots on goal and finished with a team-high seven ground balls and one caused turnover.
 
Rollins was paced by Tyler Thomas with six goals. Malorie Olin earned the win in goal with seven saves.
 
Slippery Rock was playing its third game in six days during the team's spring break trip to Florida. The Rock opened the year with neutral site wins over Shorter University and Young Harris College before facing the nationally ranked Tars Friday night.
 
SRU will travel back to Pennsylvania Saturday and prepare for its home opener Tuesday at 5 p.m. against Edinboro.
