SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Former Slippery Rock University head football coach and safety management professor Dr. George Mihalik will be honored June 10 with a retirement celebration and scholarship kickoff event at the Robert M. Smith Student Center.

Former football student-athletes, coaches and fans, as well as former safety management students, are invited to join Mihalik for a career celebration.

The cost to attend will be $100 per person with all proceeds going to the formation of an annual scholarship in Mihalik's name. Each registration will also include refreshments and beverages at the reception, as well as dinner.

"I'm really looking forward to having a night to welcome back so many people from the last four decades that had an impact on me and my life here at The Rock," said Mihalik. "There are so many people from both the football and academic sides that were instrumental in my career and this will give us an opportunity to bring them all together."

The event will begin with a cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m. and continue with a formal dinner and program at 7:30 p.m.

Plans for the program include former SRU football players, administrators and safety management students speaking, the premier of a tribute video dedicated to Mihalik and an address from Mihalik.

All registrations must be done online or over the phone. The online registration link is available above. Anyone wishing to register via phone can contact Mary Lou Scherder at 724.738.4117.

More information, including an official invitation and a list of speakers, will be available closer to the event.
