The Rock would continue that momentum as Callaghan found the back of the net two more times to record a hat trick just 5:31 into the action. Wilcox, Wilson and Torchia scored three more successive goals for the visitors to make it 7-0 midway through the first period.

Lake Erie rallied with three goals to end the period and tallied two more to open the second half to cap a 5-0 run that made it 7-5 with 24:25 to play.

After the teams traded goals to make it 8-6, Slippery Rock took over with a six-goal run that put the game out of reach. Wilcox tallied two markers during that stretch and Chan, Culhane, Callaghan and Palladino each scored once.

Tuesday night's game kicked off a three-game road swing for SRU, which will visit No. 9 West Chester Friday for a 3 p.m. game before playing a 2 p.m. game Saturday at Kutztown.
