WHEELING, W.Va. – The Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse team improved to 4-2 Tuesday night with a 14-10 victory on the road at Wheeling Jesuit University.

The Rock jumped out to a 9-1 advantage after just 23 minutes and never trailed in the contest, but did have to fight off a late rally. Wheeling Jesuit put together two separate four-goal runs to cut the advantage to two goals with just under 16 minutes to play, but Slippery Rock responded with a three-goal run over a 12-minute stretch late in the second half to seal the victory.

Wheeling Jesuit drops to 4-3 overall with the loss and remains winless in the series against SRU at 0-3. The teams were meeting for the first time since the 2013 season.

Slippery Rock was paced by
Erin Wilcox with four goals as the senior increased her current goal-scoring streak to six games. Her four points bring her career scoring tally to 113 points, tying her for ninth all-time at The Rock.

Bre Vodde scored two goals and handed out one assist to push her goal-scoring streak to three games.
Caitlynn Palladino and
Danni Wilson each added two goals,
Kaytlin Callaghan chipped in one goal and two assists and
Anna-Marie Warrington finished with two assists to cap the multiple-point scorers.

Callgahan's three points bring her career total to 149 and move her into fifth on the all-time list at Slippery Rock.

The Rock also got goals from
Ally Culhane,
Chynna Chan and
Jordan Chan, with each of those players finding the back of the net once.

Tia Torchia picked up a team-high six draw controls to help SRU to post an 18-8 advantage on the draw.

Jordan Wagner earned the win in goal to improve to 4-2 on the season. She made eight saves and recorded two caused turnovers in the victory.

Wheeling Jesuit was led by Elizabeth Hales with eight points on four goals and four assists. Jessie Tufnell added two goals and two assists and Paige Plesich and Mary Burns each scored two goals and handed out one assist.

Marie Austin took the loss in goal for the Cardinals after allowing 14 goals and recording 12 saves in a complete game effort.

Slippery Rock closed its short two-game road swing and will return home to host Bloomsburg University Saturday at 1 p.m. in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action from Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.
