SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.- The Slippery Rock University volleyball team recorded its third straight win Friday night with a 3-0 sweep of Kutztown University at Morrow Field House. The Rock earned a 25-12 victory in the first set before winning the second and third sets 25-17 and 25-16.

With the victory, Slippery Rock improves to 12-16 overall and 4-10 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, while Kutztown drops to 5-20 overall and 2-12 in the conference with the loss.

Brooke Bostwick recorded her second consecutive double-digit kill night with a team-high 13 kills.

Leah Jones notched her 10th double-double of the season on 10 kills and 12 digs. Jones surpassed the 900-kill milestone in the win (902), which is the 11th most in Slippery Rock history.
Shayla Ray and
Lamija Alisic both had 10 kills in the win, while Ray also led SRU's defensive efforts with four blocks.

Zoe Rivet had a match-high 30 assists in the win, while
Haley Defibaugh came in for the third set and dished out 15 assists. Rivet also had a career-high two blocks.

Courtney Oberlander continues to inch towards her 2015 single-season dig record of 593 digs, as she recorded 17 digs in the win to bring her 2016 total up to 573. Oberlander is now just 50 digs shy of Renee Chesley's single-season record of 623 digs set in 1993.

Beth Stumpf had two service aces in the win, while
Kristen C. Smith, Rivet, Bostwick, Oberlander and Jones all registered one apiece.

In the first set, Slippery Rock overcame Kutztown's early 3-2 lead with five unanswered points and never looked back. The Rock held a steady lead until they closed out the set with eight straight points to win it 25-12.

SRU held a 7-3 lead in the second set, but the Golden Bears had a five-point run to take a one-point lead. The teams exchanged individual points, but SRU had a four-point run of their own, thanks in part to Stumpf's two kills, to take a 12-9 lead. SRU outscored the Golden Bears 13-7 down the stretch en route to a 25-17 win.

The Rock got out to a commanding 8-0 lead in the third set behind four kills from Jones. The Rock led by as much as 12 and never let Kutztown get closer than seven points for the remainder of the set to secure the sweep with a 25-16 third-set victory.
Slippery Rock will host East Stroudsburg at 2 p.m. tomorrow.Â
