Slippery Rock lost to West Chester, 3-0, Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference competition.

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team lost to West Chester University, 3-0, Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference competition.

Justin Minda paced The Rock's efforts Saturday with a team-high three shots. George Oakley also added one shot for SRU.

Goalkeeper Steven Rerick made four saves over 90 minutes in the loss.

As has been the case all season, Slippery Rock played great defense for the majority of the first half as it successfully defended West Chester's first four shots, but Kyle Hoops managed to score what turned out to be the game-winning goal at 32:01 to give The Rams a 1-0 lead. Slippery Rock earned its first corner kick of the game in the 44th minute, but was unable to turn it into a goal as the game headed into the break with WCU ahead by one score.

Minda and Oakley each posted shots early in the second half, however each attempt was stopped by Rams goalkeeper James Wood. Minda recorded another shot at 78:39, but it went wide and just over a minute later WCU pushed its lead to 2-0 on a goal by Miguel Ross. Minda tallied another shot before Colin Hester added an additional insurance goal at 87:15 for West Chester to close out the game.

The loss drops The Rock's record to 3-8-2 on the season overall and 2-4-2 in league games. West Chester improves to 9-3-2 overall and 6-1-1 in conference play with the win.

Slippery Rock returns to action 1 p.m. Wednesday when it hosts Seton Hill University at James Egli Field.
