Box Score (HTML) SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. – The Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse team lost a 14-10 decision at Shepherd University on Saturday in non-conference competition.
The loss drops Slippery Rock's record to 1-2 on the season while the Rams improved to 2-2 on the year with the win.
Slippery Rock was led on the day by
Kaytlin Callaghan, who scored four goals and assisted on another. The four goals were a season-high and improved her team-best goal total to 10 on the year.
Caitlynn Palladino and
Paige Costantino added two goals each with
Erin Wilcox and
Jasey Sanders rounding out The Rock's goal scorers with one goal apiece.
Goalie
Jordan Wagner stopped four shots and had six groundballs in the defeat for Slippery Rock.
SRU took an 8-7 lead into the second half after scoring six of the opening period's final seven goals. However, Slippery Rock was unable to maintain the momentum it ended the first half with as Shepherd went on to outscore The Rock 7-2 in the final 30 minutes of action to grab the comeback victory.
Erin Phelan scored a game-high six goals and Savannah Shores made 11 saves for Shepherd.
Slippery Rock will look to snap its two-game losing streak March 17 against Lake Erie at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. The home opener is slated for a 5 p.m. start.
