INDIANA, Pa.- The Slippery Rock University volleyball team lost to Indiana (Pa.), 3-0, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-West action Saturday afternoon.
In the first set, Slippery Rock (10-20, 3-14 PSAC) trailed IUP (16-11, 8-9 PSAC) by no more than five points, but the Crimson Hawks came out on top 25-21 down the stretch.
The Rock trailed IUP 9-8 in the second set before the Crimson Hawks went on a five-point run to lead 14-8. SRU cut its deficit to just one point, 15-14, but IUP held off The Rock for a 25-17 second-set win.
In the third set, IUP led SRU 8-6 before The Rock scored three straight points to take the lead, 9-8. The Crimson Hawks began to pull away from SRU at that point, as the hosts went on to win 25-18 and get the sweep.
Brooke Bostwick led SRU in the loss with 11 kills.
Haley Defibaugh recorded 16 assists, while
Hanna Lombardo added 10 assists.
Leah Jones registered 10 digs for her squad.
The Crimson Hawks held advantages of 39-32 in kills, 55-48 in digs, 7-0 in service aces and 4-3 in total blocks.
The Rock will play at Edinboro Tuesday at 7 p.m.
